LAGOS ASSEMBLY POLLS: ABIODUN MOSHOOD ARO-OYENUGA (AMA) OF PDP FLAGS OFF CAMPAIGN IN IKORODU CONSTITUENCY II. | Shakiru Seidu

Hon Abiodun Moshood Aro-Oyenuga, AMA, of People's Democratic Party, PDP, on Saturday, flagged off his campaign for the Ikorodu Constituency II seat at the Lagos State House of Assembly, in February 2019.

Speaking during the flag-off ceremony at Market Square, Imota, Lagos, the Candidate applauded the people's support, urged PDP members in Ikorodu Constituency II to remain united and committed to the ideals of the Party for it to emerge victorious at the elections.

“We believe in democracy and strongly believe that people’s votes must count in every election. We will campaign vigorously and defeat the incubent from APC come February 2019.” AMA revealed.

In his welcome address, Hon Sharafa Olutosin, thanked the Party members for the unflinching support bestowed on AMA and urged all to continue spreading the gospel.

"Let this message go down into every nooks and crannies of Ikorodu Constituency II that we need not seek answers to our numerous challenges, but we need the right answer; let us stop complaining or shift blames to some individual who have no value to add to our collective interest, rather we should accept responsibilities for the future. The best way to do this is to get the right and the best person to do the job. By this. Abiodun Moshood Aro-Oyenuga is the right and best person for the job." Olutosi said.

Also speaking at the official flagged off, the former Minister of Works, Sen. Adeseye Ogunlewe, urged the Party faithfuls to rise up to the challenge. “You cannot sit in your house and expect to win elections. You have to tell the people what you have for them. So for us in PDP, in every election, because we believe in the people, we have the people, we will win," he said.

Ogunlewe, who was ably represented by the PDP Ikorodu Constituency II Chairman, Alhaji Issa Gbadamosi, urged all to go out and campaign for PDP. "Let nobody intimidate you, no result is written elsewhere, your votes must count, it is when we work together that we will achieve better results.” He added.

The flag off which recorded a large turnout, was equally entertained by the gospel star artistes, Evang Lanre Teriba and Evang Dare Melody, and also received defections from SDP and APC members of Imota and Ijede to PDP.

Mr Shakiru Sanni was on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, removed from his position as the Olumale Eluku of Igbogbo Kingdom, after his alleged gross misconduct and disrespect to the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali and traditional institution of Igbogboland. Mr Shakiru Sanni of Amoju branch, Lantan Onanusi Family in Igbogbo, was made the Olumale Eluku of Igbogbo few years back, and accused of insubordination, abused of tittle and total disrespect to the King, traditional institution of the land and Lantan Onanusi Family. During the meeting held at Osugbo Abalaye Shrine , where Lantan family were asked to pay fine of almost One million naira worth of sacrifice because of Mr Shakiru Sanni's misconduct, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali , emphasized that Shakiru Sanni's removal as Olumale Eluku was to safeguard the sanctity, culture, tradition, religion and prestige of Igbogbo

In continuation of its resolve to be a resource and think-tank team for good governance, articulation of developmental ideas and promotion of people centered initiatives, The Apex Leadership of The Mandate Movement  (TMM) cleavage met in Lagos to discuss and review current political issues and situation in the country. The group commended the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the bold initiatives of his administration, some of which are; i) Continuous engagement of the Leadership of the Nigerian Labour Unions towards finding a compromise to the minimum wage imbroglio. ii) Waivers/relaxation of import duties and tariffs on some food items importation for six months to cushion the effects of food shortages and high prices. iii) The landmark Supreme Court’s ruling on the right of the Local Government tier of government to financial autonomy, an outcome of a suit instituted by the attorney-general of the federation and a judicial decisio
