ASSOCIATION OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT VICE CHAIRMEN HOLDS MAIDEN CONFERENCE IN ABUJA. | Shakiru Seidu. Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba, Muktar Gora, others, emerge national executive.

The Association of Local Government Chairmen of Nigeria held its first conference recently in Agura Hotel, Abuja. The conference lasted for three days.

While addressing the gathering, Hon. Lawrence Onuchukwu, National Chairman of the Association, welcomed all the invited guests to the maiden conference.

The lecture, based on the theme: “Prospects and Challenges of the local government in Nigeria,” was delivered by Dr. Abayomi Ogunowo, Lecturer, Political Science and International Relations, University of Abuja. Kenneth Adejoh Michael, a Management Consultant, also delivered a paper on Understanding Legal Administrative Structures/The Role of Vice Chairmen of local government In Nigeria.

Another topic: “Self Reliance/Life in and after office,” was presented by Babatunde Oluremi Ogunlaja, a retired Deputy Director, Development Finance Department, Central Bank Headquarters, Abuja.

Presentation and ratification of the national and zonal executives of the association were also part of the activities where Honourable Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba from Ikorodu Local Government Area of Lagos State emerged the National Deputy Chairman of the Association. Honourable Muktar Gora from Madobi Local Government Area of Kano State emerged the Secretary respectively.

Thereafter, there were group discussions, familiarization between executives and members of the Association.

Mr Shakiru Sanni was on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, removed from his position as the Olumale Eluku of Igbogbo Kingdom, after his alleged gross misconduct and disrespect to the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali and traditional institution of Igbogboland. Mr Shakiru Sanni of Amoju branch, Lantan Onanusi Family in Igbogbo, was made the Olumale Eluku of Igbogbo few years back, and accused of insubordination, abused of tittle and total disrespect to the King, traditional institution of the land and Lantan Onanusi Family. During the meeting held at Osugbo Abalaye Shrine , where Lantan family were asked to pay fine of almost One million naira worth of sacrifice because of Mr Shakiru Sanni's misconduct, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali , emphasized that Shakiru Sanni's removal as Olumale Eluku was to safeguard the sanctity, culture, tradition, religion and prestige of Igbogbo
