10TH EDITION OF DIG OLDIES NOVELTY MATCH ENDS IN GRAND STYLE, AS SEIDU, OPARAKU, OBAFEMI, SOTOMIWA, OTHERS, PUT UP SUPERLATIVE PERFORMANCE. | Shakiru Seidu.
It was another day of reckoning in the history of Igbogbo kingdom, as the community held its 10th Edition of DIG Oldies Novelty Match, at Igbogbo Sports Stadium, on Easter Sunday.
The novelty Match was an annual event organized by 'The Initiative Group' (TIG), to unite the people of Igbogbo community, so as to promote peaceful coexistence.
It was initiated a decade ago to bring friends, families and oldies together. No wonder the Novelty Match was fixed for Easter fiesta just to ensure that everyone is present, MegaXpression Magazine observed.
The Match which was officiated by one of the highly respected Nigeria Referee, kicked off at exactly 4:15pm between the Blue FC and Yellow FC under a peaceful atmosphere.
It was a great encounter between the two teams in which the teams refused to score until 20 minutes when the former Super Eagle's player, Mobil Oparaku of Yellow FC put the ball at the back of the net to record the first goal. All efforts by Shakiru Seidu of MegaXpression community magazine to double the scoreline proves abortive. The first have ended in one goal lead for the Yellow FC.
The second half was more interesting as the Blue FC refused to bow to the tactics of Yellow FC. Another former Super Eagle's player, Abiodun Obafemi helped his team to leveled the score line through a wonderful performance to make it 1-1 in the 53minutes of the game. Nevertheless, the Blue FC further increased the tally to 2 goals to carry the day. The match ended in 2-1 win in favour of Blue FC.
The Match was no doubt recorded a superlative performance from Mobil Oparaku, Abiodun Obafemi, Pedro, Okoloba, Shakiru Seidu, Baby Lawyer, Deboye Dankuwo, Azeez Sodiq, Jaiye Solawon, Tolulope Faniyi, and the rest of others.
The organisers, Laja Kehinde, Tolu Faniyi, Comr. Kazeem Ogunmuyiwa, Demola Ogunlewe, Sule Adelakun, Jaiye Solawon and the rest of them promised that the next edition will be more explosive.
