ABIKE DABIRI-EREWA PALLIES FOREIGN NGO, GIVES LAPTOP, BOOKS, SOUVENIRS, TO PRY SCHOOL PUPILS IN IKORODU. | Shakiru Seidu.
The SSA on Diaspora to President Muhammed Buhari, Hon Abike Dabiri-Erewa, in collaboration with "Distance Relatives', an NGO, based in United States of America, was on Monday, donated education materials to Aga Primary School Pupils, Ikorodu, Lagos State. The "Distant Relatives" delegation led by a Ghanaian national, Gilfred Nana, Enoch Ofori and Nifham Asiodu, is aimed to provide support to less privileged communities across the world.
The event, which attracted the presence of notable persons, saw Hon Abike Dabiri-Erewa, saying her facilitation is in fulfillment of her determination to give education special attention in Ikorodu Division.
According to her, "I want the pupils to enjoy qualitative education and from the believe that whoever opens a school door, closes a prison, as posited by Victor Hugo". She further inspired the pupils to pursue greatness in their education just like her, and urged them to work and study hard, in order to nurture their dreams to reality.
Speaking with MegaXpression community magazine, the 'Distance Relatives' team leader, Mr Gilfred Nana, said there is need for everyone around the world to see themselves as distant relatives and should strive to meet the needs of the less privileged in the society.
Afolayan Motunromobi, a primary 6 pupil and overall best of the school, was presented with a new Laptop Computer, with the charge for her to maximize the use of the device to facilitate the realization of her dream future career.
The Head Girl, Moturomobi, assured the US delegates that she would make judicious use of the computer in pursuit of her dream of becoming a medical doctor. The team also presented shoes and bags to outstanding pupils who answered their questions correctly. Similarly, hard cover notebooks, pencils, biros and branded wristbands were also distributed to hundreds of the pupils.
Mrs Akinbola T.M, Headmistress, Aga Primary school, thanked Hon A bike Dabiri-Erewa and the Distance Relatives team, for their uncommon gesture, assuring them that the pupils will make judicious use of the items. She further solicited for more assistance from government,
non-governmental organisations and private individuals towards the upliftment of the school.
The event was also graced by former SSA to Babatunde Fashola on Education,, Hon Saheed Ibikunle, Principal, Oriwu Model College Ikorodu, Mrs Abiodun Ogunniyi, Political P.A, of Hon Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Alhaji Hameed Olalekan, APC Chieftain, Alh Folorunsho amongst others.
