OBA KASALI CANCELS 2021 ANNUAL OJUDE-OBA FESTIVAL IN IGBOGBO OVER COVID-19. ...Thanks residents for peace, progress, and tranquillity pervading Igbogbo Community.
The Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, HRM Oba (Barr.) AbdulSemiu Orimadegun Kasali, has approved the cancellation of the 2021 edition of the annual Ojude-Oba festival of Igbogbo, Lagos.
In a statement made available to MegaXpression Media, the Monarch attributed the cancellation to the prevalence of the COVID-19 pandemic, its likely upsurge and the negligible number of people that had taken the anti-COVID 19 vaccine.
Rather than expose people, who will converge in front of Adeboruwa Palace to participate in the annual special prayer, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo directed that the 2021 edition be cancelled. The festival unites Muslims, Christians, and adherents of other faiths in Igbogbo Kingdom and being celebrated three days after the Eid-el Kabir (Ileya) festival.
In his Royal message to the people of Igbogbo on the occasion of the 2021 Eid-el Kabir, Oba Kasali thanked the residents for the peace, progress, and tranquillity pervading Igbogboland.
The Monarch thanked the Igbogbo Muslim Community Organization, IMCO, and all other sponsors of the Ojude-Oba for the partnerships that ensured the success of the annual special prayer in the past, while also hoping that the 2022 edition would be a reality.
He further thanked High Chief Tajudeen Alade Onasanya, Odofin of Igbogbo, Otunba Lanre Obayomi, other Chiefs and Baales, for their unflinching love, affection, loyalty, and solidarity towards the peaceful coexistence of Igbogbo, and thanking Allah for his 5years on the throne as the Adeboruwa of Igbogboland.
