The Nigeria Majority Leaders Forum has elected the Lagos Majority Leader, Hon. Sanai Oyeniran Bolanle Agunbiade, as its pioneer Chairman of the National body amongst other Executive Members. Agunbiade, who is currently the Chairman, South West Legislative Reform Implementation Committee, was elected on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at the National Convention of the Legislative Forum held in Lagos, Nigeria.

Agunbiade, in his acceptance speech, thanked Allah for the successful completion of the activities for 2021 Convention, and the opportunity giving to him and his colleagues to represent the National Body of the Forum.

"No doubt today is good, no doubt today is great, because it is marking the birth of the Nigeria Forum of Majority Leaders in our Country. I want to say we owe the success and peace of today to the benevolence of the Almighty Allah. 

"I also thank my colleagues for finding me fit and proper to lead this Forum of articulate individuals, who operate as Majority Leaders in all the State Houses of Assembly across the six geographical zones of Nigeria.

"Permit me to say on equivacaly that this Forum of Majority Leaders is establish to collaborate with the Speakers of our Houses of Assembly, in deepening democracy by promoting cross learning activities and engendering experience sharing among the State Houses of Assembly.

"In particular we shall focus on the adoption of best legislative practices in our law making processes and striving boldly at promoting national integration across ethnic divisions. We are prepared to serve as partners in progress with the Conference of Speakers, realizing that legislatures is the sign-post of democracy," Agunbiade, the National Chairman of the Forum opined.

He thanked the Convention Planning Committee Chairman and Members, for the effort that made 2021 Convention possible and peaceful. "I will love to declare that our tenure as Officers of the Forum shall wish to be measured by positive action than long speeches. Therefore while soliciting for the support of my colleagues, I do hereby pledge never to disappoint them," Agunbiade added.

Mainwhile, the new National Publicity Secretary of the Forum, Hon Olugboyega Aribisogan, revealed to MegaXpression Media that the Majority Leader of Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Agunbiade, was elected as the National Chairman while the Majority Leader of Plateau State, Hon Gapyil Naanlong was elected as the National Secretary of the Forum.

-Hon Nnamdi Godwin Okafor, Anambra, (National Vice-Chairman  South),
-Hon Abubakar Suleiman Abukur, Katsina, (National Vice- Chairman North),
-Hon Olugboyega Aribisogan, Ekiti, (National Publicity Secretary),
-Hon Hamman Tukur Yettisuri, Adamawa, (National Deputy Publicity Secretary),
-Hon Solomon Akpulonu, Abia, (National Legal Adviser) 
-Hon Bukar Mustapha, Yobe, (National Financial Secretary),
-Hon Faruk Aliyu Jega, Kebbi, (National Treasurer),
-Hon Peter Odey, CrossRivers, (National Organising Secretary), and
-Hon Monday Bubou Obolo, Bayelsa, (National Deputy secretary)," Aribisogan explained.

He further disclosed that the  election was rancour free and followed due process, saying that the Convention brought together all the 36 Majority Leaders of the State Houses of Assembly to discuss National issues of Legislative importance.

Also, the National Vice Chairman, Nigeria Conference of Speakers, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo, equally urged Members of the Forum to remain united and committed to the deepening of Nigeria democratic process. 

"As Majority Leaders, you must be united and committed to the deepening of our democracy. We owe our country the duty to sustain our democracy. We must be conscious of our stabilizing roles as leaders of government business in our various Assemblies. I implore you to continue to support the leadership of your State and work for the progress of your members," Rt. Hon. Speaker Oluomo reiterated.
