As Nigeria looks on to agriculture as an alternative to Oil and Gas for national development, a Member of House of Reps and the Chairman House Committee on Defence, Hon. This was made known by the Lawmaker while speaking with MegaXpression Media recently. Benson promised farmers of better productivity and wealth creation with NALDA’s presence in Imota farmland, and that the Agency will ensure that the farmers have access to farm input to produce, while an access road will equally be constructed to the farm.

Meanwhile, Benson thanked farmers and indigenes of Imota community for their cooperation with NALDA. "This will add value to what we produce in Imota and it will also help our youths to be engaged because agriculture is the way to go in Nigeria now”, Benson stated.

While responding to MegaXpression Media in a brief interview, the Chairman Imota LCDA, Prince Wasiu Agoro, commended Hon. Babajimi Benson for his uncommon gesture, saying the 80 bed hospital and Ladigbo Projects are still fresh in their memory.

"As you all know Imota is preoccupied. Our occupation here is farming and I'm proud to say that in Ikorodu Division, we have the largest land match. Largely, the people here are farmers and this is what they have been waiting for.

"The programme has been on for a very long time mostly in the North. When this came through Babajimi Benson, it was a massive development to Imota community. My people embraced it, they were so happy especially the farmers. It was a positive impact on the community.

"Before the whole programme started, JB himself called me to ask whether there is land that has not been cleared, so that the Federal Government can come and clear it and even provide seedlings, chemicals and fertilizers for the purpose. I told him immediately "YES SIR and he said OKAY"!

"He later connected me with the NALDA officials in charge of the programme and the Contractor that would come for the execution. It was a kind of miracle, because it's started like magic. Within days, the Contractor came and I was informed that they want to help us recover 175 hectares of land.

"So I swung into action immediately and informed the Ranodu of Imota, HRM Oba Mudashiru Ajibade Agoro, the farmers Association and individual farmers that are land owners in Imota community. So we informed them and the whole thing started willingly,

"The first phase has been completed now, while Babajimi Benson has equally called again that they are coming for the second phase of it, which later held on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, to activate another 175 hectares," Agoro, Chairman Imota LCDA explained.

"As a Government, we are collaborating with NALDA agency seriously, since it's an annual event, to make sure the materials doesn't go into the wrong hands, that's why we are not in a hurry, we are just dishing it out gradually," Agoro added.
