Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru FCA, representing Lagos East Senatorial District, on Wednesday, distributed food packs to at least 12,000 vulnerable households of his constituenty.
The distribution of the food packs aimed to put smiles on the faces of residents of the district, as well as ensure merry Eid-el-Kabir Sallah celebrations, MegaXpression Media gathered.
Excited beneficiaries who were drawn from the 16 Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas of the district, thronged venues of the food packs distribution from their respective communities.
Abiru, who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions, and also Chairman, Southern Senators’ Forum, in his Sallah goodwill message reiterated his commitment to the pursuit of laws, programmes and interventions that would improve their quality of life, and that of all in Lagos East Senatorial.
The DoingGood Senator reaffirmed his commitment to supporting constituents during festive seasons, especially amid current economic challenges. He emphasized the need for collaborative efforts at all levels of government to alleviate hardship.
“This programme reflects our continued commitment to the welfare of the people of Lagos East... especially during seasons of spiritual reflection and celebration like Eid-el-Kabir,” he stated.
The event drew commendations from community leaders including Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, former Deputy Governor of Lagos State and APC apex leader in Ikorodu Division.
The food packs, containing rice and garri, per household—were branded with the names of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR and Senator Abiru, signaling alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda and national food security efforts.
This large-scale outreach, part of Senator Abiru’s broader #DoingGood initiative, targeted vulnerable groups including people with disabilities, the elderly, women, and unemployed youths, many of whom were shortlisted through an online nomination process.
Senator Abiru’s track record includes digital skill empowerment, business grants, education support, and other humanitarian initiatives aimed at sustainable community development.
