AROYEWUN DECLARES SIXTH ASSEMBLY OF IGBOGBO/BAYEKU LCDA, AS BASIRAT BANJOKO EMERGES AS LEADER OF LEGISLATIVE ARM.


The Executive Chairman of Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Omo'ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun HOA, on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, inaugurated the 6th legislative Assembly in the Council, following the closure of the fifth Assembly.

Proclaiming the Assembly, Omo'ba Aroyewun charged the members of the Council Legislative Arm to assist the Council in making good laws that would bring about development and make lives easier for the people of the LCDA. He further congratulated members of the Council Legislative Arm on their Elections and assured them of his administration’s support.

During the inauguration and proclamation, the former Deputy Leader, Hon. Princess Basirat Adetutu Banjoko of Ward C1, was elected as the first female Council Leader, while Hon. Hakeem Adewale Solawon, representing Ward C2, emerged as the Deputy Leader of the House.

Hon. Habib Adekunle Anifowose, representing Ward C5, was nominated as the Majority Leader, by Hon. Saidat Adeoba (Ward C3) and seconded by Hon. Hakeem Solawon (Ward C2), while Hon. Yusuf Bello (Ward C4) and Hon. Hakeem Solawon (Ward C2) nominated and seconded the nomination of Hon. Saidat Adeoba of Ward C3 as Chief Whip respectively. Hon. Yusuf Bello of Ward C4 occupied the newly created position, Deputy Majority Leader of the 6th Assembly.

In her eloquent acceptance speech, Hon. Basirat Adetutu Banjoko thanked the party leaders, members of the Legislative Arm and Chairman Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun for being there for her at the critical point, assuring that they would not regret her support for being the Leader of the House.

"I thank everybody who has contributed in one way or the other to this great honour, and I seize this opportunity to assure that I will not give you cause to regret the support and confidence you repose in me. I say it boldly that we Councillors, as members of the 6th Legislative body, shall commit ourselves to the development of dear LCDA," Banjoko stated.
