The Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative Limited (IDPIL) was on Saturday, 6th of September, 2025, held its 4th Annual Scholarship and Bursary Award presentation at a grand ceremony attended by dignitaries, traditional rulers, parents, and students.
The event, which took place at the N.S Sho Multipurpose Events Center, Ajebo road, Imota, Lagos State, was a celebration of educational excellence and a reaffirmation of IDPIL’s commitment to the growth and development of Ikorodu Division through its SHEER Development Agenda, which focuses on Security, Health, Education, Environment, and Road Rehabilitation.
In his welcome address, the Executive Secretary of IDPIL, Otunba Ganiyu Olusegun Abiru, noted that the initiative is already yielding positive results, as evidenced by the outstanding academic performances of beneficiaries across various higher institutions in Nigeria.
“For the fourth consecutive year, the Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative (IDPIL) has demonstrated its unwavering commitment to the educational development of our youth. Today, we celebrate not just the financial awards but the potential of the next generation of leaders,” Abiru stated.
Abiru further stated since inception in 2021, the IDPIL has touched virtually all strata of Ikorodu Division, from security to health, environment, street light installation and other numerous strategic intervention across the Six local councils areas in Ikorodu Division.
Other touched areas are the renal centre at the General Hospital Ikorodu, Royal Palaces, donation of vehicles/buses, donation of generating set and Air -Conditioners to Ranodu Palace at Imota, installation of street lights at Egbin Kingdom, among others.
Also, Hon. Adebimpe Akinsola, Chairman of the IDPIL Scholarship and Bursary Award Committee, in her speech, celebrated the achievements of the students, noting that education is a powerful tool for societal transformation.
Akinsola praised the recipients for their academic excellence and encouraged them to continue striving for greatness, emphasizing that education opens doors to numerous opportunities.
“The IDPIL Scholarship and Bursary Award has been instrumental in shaping the future of our youth, enabling them to focus on their studies without the burden of financial constraints,” Akinsola said.
Meanwhile, the Chairman, Igbogbo/ Bayeku LCDA, Omo'ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun HOA, congratulated the beneficiaries, urging them to make used of the fund. He charged the youth to be focused and shun cultism, noting that it's a way to destruction. In the same vein, the Chairman, Imota LCDA, also congratulated the students, assuring the IDPIL of their support.
His Royal Majesties, Oba Mudashiru Ajibade Bakare Agoro, Ranodu of Imota, and Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, in separate speeches commended Odofin Adewunmi Ogunsanya SAN, and other members of the IDPIL for their wonderful gesture.
Highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the Bursary 1 Award.
These awards, designed to alleviate the financial burdens of education, have been a beacon of hope for many underprivileged yet talented students in Ikorodu Division.
