Residents of Oliwo- Amoju, Market Street, and Ayotunde area in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA have experienced relief, as the Council Boss, Omo'ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, popularly called HOA, has commenced a full rehabilitation of Oliwo-Amoju Road, a vital access road that connects several communities within the Council area in Igbogbo.
The long-anticipated project, which began on Monday, 29th September 2025, is a flagship intervention under the Chairman’s GLORY Agenda, aimed at transforming inner roads and improving urban infrastructure for the comfort, safety, and economic growth of residents.
The rehabilitation works will feature full asphalt resurfacing with durable finishing and the installation of modern streetlights. These improvements will guarantee safer and more convenient movement for motorists and pedestrians, while also enhancing security and promoting night-time economic activities.
Ahead of the road construction, the entire drainage channel along the stretch was desilted to ensure free flow of stormwater and to permanently address recurrent flooding and erosion that had long plagued residents and road users.
Speaking at the commencement of the project, Chairman Aroyewun reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering quality infrastructure that directly impacts the lives of the people.
“The Oliwo Amoju Road is a major artery that links multiple communities, and we fully understand its importance to residents and local businesses. By clearing the drainage before asphalting, we are tackling perennial flooding issues head-on. Once completed, the road will be smooth, motorable, and well-lit, bringing relief, security, and renewed vibrancy to this area,” he said.
Excited residents have welcomed the development, describing it as a long-awaited intervention that will ease movement, reduce transportation costs, and boost commercial activities in the area.
The council assured that the project will be delivered to the highest quality standards and within the stipulated timeframe, with minimal disruption to road users.
The commencement of the Oliwo Amoju Road rehabilitation further adds to the growing list of infrastructure projects under Chairman Aroyewun’s leadership, underscoring his administration’s resolve to deliver people-focused governance and sustainable community development.
