2026: AROYEWUN PRESENTS ₦4.99BN APPROPRIATION BILL TO LEGISLATIVE ARM OF IGBOGBO BAYEKU LCDA. ...Says It's a Budget of Inclusive Prosperity.
The Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area has unveiled its proposed 2026 Appropriation Bill, valued at ₦4,998,908,360.01, signalling a decisive step in the administration’s commitment to broad-based and people-centred development across all wards of the LCDA.
The Executive Chairman, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, formally laid the budget before the Legislative Council at the Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun Legislative & Administrative Building on Monday, December 8, 2025, describing it as “a financial blueprint shaped by community voices and guided by the GLORY Agenda.”
The proposed budget allocates ₦2,758,504,030.31 to recurrent expenditure (55.2%) and ₦2,240,404,329.70 to capital expenditure (44.8%), with targeted investments in:
* road construction and rehabilitation,
* strategic drainage expansion,
* strengthened primary healthcare and disease prevention,
* digital skills and youth empowerment,
* market modernisation and local enterprise growth,
* environmental improvement and waste management,
* community security enhancement, and
Aroyewun emphasised that the 2026 fiscal plan, tagged “The Budget of Inclusive Prosperity”, is the outcome of extensive consultations, including the Stakeholder Budget Forum and a two-day technical retreat involving executive officers, legislators, and financial experts.
Proceedings began with a welcome address by Hon. Basirat Banjoko, Leader of the Legislative Council, who reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to diligent scrutiny, rigorous budget review, public accountability, and sustained collaboration with the executive arm. She commended the administration for embracing a budgeting and governance culture that puts residents’ needs at the centre of fiscal planning.
Despite being in office for only four months, Chairman Aroyewun highlighted progress recorded across healthcare, education, youth development, and community infrastructure. Notable achievements include the upgrade of Baiyeku and Ibeshe Primary Health Centres, rehabilitation of classroom blocks at Methodist Primary School, and youth-focused initiatives such as “Mentorship with HOA” and the inaugural "Igbogbo Youth Summit."
He added that ongoing projects, such as the reconstruction of Oliwo Amoju Road and the establishment of Zumratul Islamiyyah Primary School, are set to advance significantly under the 2026 fiscal year.
Reiterating his administration’s commitment to transparency and measurable outcomes, Aroyewun declared, “Every project will be tracked, every kobo will be accounted for, and every action will serve the people.” He assured residents that the budget will drive shared prosperity, strengthen essential services, and accelerate community-wide development.
The presentation was attended by the Adeboruwa-in-Council, apex political leaders, the Community Development Committee (CDC), Christian and Muslim bodies, youth organisations, traditional institutions, market associations, and senior government officials, reflecting broad public support for the administration’s development direction.
