IGBOGBO TRADITIONAL GROUPS MOBILISE SUPPORT FOR TINUBU, APC CANDIDATES. …As Odofin inaugurates canvassers to strengthen grassroots engagement ahead of elections.
Traditional associations in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA have commenced grassroots mobilisation in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC), following a stakeholders’ meeting convened by the Odofin of Igbogbo Kingdom, Chief Tajudeen Alade Onasanya.
The meeting brought together representatives of various traditional groups to discuss political participation, grassroots engagement and the role of traditional associations in mobilising support ahead of forthcoming elections.
Addressing participants, Chief Tajudeen Onasanya highlighted reasons for supporting the re-election of President Tinubu and other APC candidates, urging members of the associations to take an active role in the political process and mobilise eligible voters within their respective constituencies.
He recalled an earlier inaugural meeting with the former Commissioner, Hon. Oyinlomo Danmole, and the Director-General of the KOH Campaign Structure, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, where traditional leaders were encouraged to galvanise grassroots support for President Tinubu and other APC candidates.
Traditional groups represented at the meeting included Osugbo, Oloro, Eleluku, Awo-Opa, Onigunnuko, Eleegun and Olorisa, alongside other traditional associations within Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA.
To establish a coordinated mobilisation structure, Chief Onasanya inaugurated five canvassers from each participating group. The canvassers are expected to coordinate engagement within their associations, encourage political participation and mobilise support among members.
The Odofin also disclosed plans for a larger stakeholders’ meeting, where Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, MHR and other APC candidates are expected to interact directly with the traditional associations and present their programmes and political agenda.
He urged the groups to sustain their cooperation and engagement, noting their longstanding contributions to the preservation of Igbogbo’s cultural heritage, traditional rites and community stability.
Speaking on behalf of the Executive Chairman of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, the Chairman’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Relations, Mr Shakiru Moritan Seidu, assured the traditional groups of the administration’s support to facilitate their mobilisation efforts.
He said the Aroyewun-led administration would provide the necessary assistance, including mobility support, to ease their activities. He also urged participants to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and encourage eligible members of their respective groups to do the same.
The meeting represents an effort to strengthen grassroots political engagement by establishing a coordinated platform for interaction between traditional associations and APC stakeholders in Igbogbo Kingdom ahead of forthcoming elections.
