JIMI BENSON’S iCARE FOODBANK HITS 60,000 BENEFICIARIES IN 10 YEARS, AS LAWMAKER FEEDS ANOTHER 500 VULNERABLE WITH CASH SUPPORT. • Plans Mega Empowerment for Over 1,000 Ikorodu Federal Constituents.
The Member representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, MHR, has marked a decade of sustained humanitarian intervention through the iCARE Foodbank, feeding another 500 vulnerable residents and bringing the cumulative number of beneficiaries to over 60,000 in the last 10 years.
The milestone underscores Benson’s commitment to social welfare and grassroots development since launching the foodbank in October 2016, with a monthly intervention that has consistently provided food support to more than 500 vulnerable constituents. The latest edition also featured cash support to beneficiaries.
Beyond the food distribution, the lawmaker is set to extend his empowerment drive, with plans in place to empower more than 1,000 constituents at a Mega Empowerment Programme scheduled for Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at Ikorodu Musical Village.
The twin interventions reflect Benson’s blend of humanitarian service and development-focused representation, which has seen him facilitate numerous infrastructural projects across Ikorodu Division while maintaining a sustained support system for vulnerable households.
Expressing gratitude to the people of Ikorodu Federal Constituency for the confidence reposed in him, Benson described his opportunity to represent them as a privilege and reaffirmed his commitment to delivering more dividends of democracy in the next dispensation.
He attributed the achievements recorded in Ikorodu to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, noting that the Federal Government’s development direction had provided an enabling platform for projects and interventions across the constituency.
Benson consequently urged constituents to demonstrate their support for the President at the January 16, 2027 election, while also seeking massive votes for Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Lagos State.
He assured residents that more developmental projects and people-oriented initiatives would be facilitated to Ikorodu Federal Constituency, promising to sustain his commitment to infrastructure, empowerment and improved living conditions.
In separate remarks, the Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Prince Adedayo Ladega; Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, Hon. Ameen Apanishile; Chairman of Imota LCDA, Hon. Sunday Ayodele Benson; Chairman of Ijede LCDA, Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba; Chairman of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun; and APC candidate for Ikorodu Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Prince Toyin Gafaar Bolowotan, commended the federal lawmaker for what they described as outstanding representation and consistent commitment to the welfare of his constituents.
The leaders also offered prayers for Benson’s success, alongside that of President Tinubu, expressing optimism about the continuation of their respective development agendas.
Party leaders, religious clerics, members of the iCARE family led by their DG, Mayor Deen Sanwoola, and other APC stalwarts were among those who attended the 10th-anniversary event, celebrating a decade of sustained food support and community-focused humanitarian service.
With the iCARE Foodbank’s milestone and another major empowerment programme on the horizon, Benson has reinforced his message that representation must go beyond legislation and infrastructure to include practical interventions that touch lives, support vulnerable families and create opportunities for ordinary citizens.
