IGBOGBO MONARCH, MUSLIM LEADERS, NOTABLE PERSONALITIES, OTHERS CELEBRATE OJUDE-OBA WITH GLAMOUR IN IGBOGBO.
Since HRM Oba Barr. AbdulSemiu Orimadegun Kasali, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo became King, the Ojude-Oba Socio-cultural festival in Igbogbo Kingdom had held without fail on every third day after the Eid -el -Kabir celebration. This year's celebration, hundreds of guests from across the kingdom and indeed, beyond on Tuesday August 13, 2019, thronged to the Palace of Adeboruwa, as it has become the norm to grace the Ojude Oba festival in Igbogbo.
The celebration mood was activated as early as 9am when different Muslim groups, the elderly, traditional Chiefs and cultural enthusiasts, mostly dressed in special costumes, defied the downpour to converge on the forecourt of the Adeboruwa's palace, venue of the festival, singing and dancing to melodious Islamic song.
The event which was officially covered by MegaXpression Community Magazine, was put together by Igbogbo Muslims Community (IMCO), features Muslim leaders and groups taking turns to pay homage to the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo and in the presence of Chief Imam of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, Sheik Dhikirulahi Andu Tanimose. The introduction of the guests followed suit by Imam Sheriff from Awobo, while several other performances took turn to keep the programme moving.
The guest lecturer, Alhaji Babatunde, in his thoughtful provoking lecture urged all to love one another, the community and eschew bankrupt of selfless service and generosity. "When you have been blessed by nature, you ought to give back to the society so that your influence will be long felt. As a leader, your success and achievements are not measured by the size of your wealth but the people you have influenced their lives positively," he said.
He further enjoined everyone to be involved in community capacity building so as to afford the people of Igbogbo Kingdom a safe haven.
The Chairman Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Comrade Olusesan Daini, in his eloquent remarks pleaded with everyone whose houses/buildings were demolished in 2017 to exercise patience, and that the commencement of the roads would begin before the turn of a new year.
He noted that the festival has continued to grow from strength to strength under Oba AbdulSemiu, saying it has become obvious that only quality leadership could engender progress and development such as the type witnessed in Igbogbo Kingdom.
Daini further urged the planning committee to endeavor to involves the Christian in festival. "We are celebrating Eid-el-Kabir purely for Muslims, but I'd be happy if this festival includes the Christians and everyone in Igbogbo Kingdom." He added.
His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulsemiu Orimadegun Kasali was highly elated and enveloped with joy on how the Palace was filled to the brim for the celebration. He thanked the Muslim community, Chiefs and notable dignitaries that present and urged them to support the development of Igbogbo community in whatever capacity that accelerate its growth and prosperity.
The Monarch urged all to love, forgive one another, and maintain peaceful coexistence among his subjects. "May we succeed in every of our endeavors, Igbogbo land will continue to grow and flourish," the monarch added.
