AMAZONS RECOGNITION AWARDS: STARLIGHT NEWSPAPER HONORS OSHINOWO-BASORUN, OKEOWO, KALESANWO, AWOYEMI, OTHERS, FOR THEIR ESTEEM ROLES IN COMMUNITY SERVICES. | Shakiru Seidu. They have justified the roles of Women in Community Building, Yeye Opomulero, Alhaja Tairat Agunbiade reveals.

It was a case of celebrating the stars in Ikorodu Division when women of substance across the Division with different attires were seated to honor members of their folk who has paid their dues and contributed their quota in community development. The programme which took place at Ikorodu Town Hall, organized by Damola Aderibigbe of Starlight Newspaper, was tagged “Amazons Recognition Award”. 

An APC Chieftain and retired Deputy Director from the Lagos state Health sector, Lion Olufunmi Oshinowo- Basorun, awarded the 2019 Ikorodu Division AMAZON of the year. Miss Arinola Okeowo won the most promising youth for leadership in Ikorodu, while Hon Abimbola Adaramola, Supervisor for WAPA, Ikorodu North LCDA, won the Most Outstanding female Personality in the Management/Executive Team of Ikorodu North LCDA. 

Mrs Oluwakemi Yetunde Kalesanwo, an Igbogbo indigene and a member of LASU Alumni, SUBEB and UNILAG Board of Trustees and also member of Ikorodu Division Women of Substance, won the Outstanding Agent of Community Development. Most Promising Youth for Leadership in Ijede goes to Miss Adeola Islamiat Oyebanjo, while Mrs Funke Awoyemi also won the Outstanding Agent of Development in Ikorodu Division. 

Miss Salisu Lateefat Abiodun clinched the award on the Most Promising Youth for Leadership in Imota, while Miss Motayo Mosunmola wins the Most Promising Youth for Leadership in Igbogbo Community. CSP Tokunbo Abaniwonda, DPO, Anthony Police Station and OC Human Right, Panti, also won the Outstanding Agent of Community Development.

Hon Solarin-Akinyemi Morayo Oluwayemisi, SLG Imota, Alhaja Chief  Mrs Adenike Olayiwola, 2.I.C Area N Command Ijede, and Mrs Adeola R. Kujenya, a blogger and CEO of Oversees blogrkjmediang.com, were also bagged themselves Outstanging Awards.

The Award ceremony also doubled as a public lecture was said on how to treat the roles of Women in Community Building and gender equality in the civil service.

The award had in attendance the presence of Alhaja Tairat Agunbiade,  the Yeye Opomulero of Ikorodu and wife of the Majority Leader, Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon SOB Agunbiade, Barr. SOK Shillings, Dr Abiodun Fatai-Abatan, Hon Azeez Olosugbo, Mr Kazeem Sowemimo, Mr Shakiru Seidu, CEO MegaXpression News, Adekunle Adelabu, Founder of Impact Newspaper, among others.

The Governor of Lagos, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu is to commission a newly reconstructed Aafin Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom , by the Administration of the outgoing Chairman, Builder Olusesan Mayokun Daini. His Royal Majesty, Oba (Barr.) Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom. This event is part of a broader effort by the Daini's administration to improve the governance structure at the local level and provide for the traditional rulers.
