IKORODU STANDS STILL AS IKODASS ORGANISES ANNUAL FITNESS WALK EXERCISE IN CELEBRATION OF 28TH IKORODU OGA DAY.   It's designed to improve the health of the people, Otunba Ganiu Abiru reveals.

This year's annual fitness walk exercise that is designed to strengthening the health of the people of Ikorodu Division was on Saturday, October 19, came to life as different people, both the young and old, assembled at Ikorodu Town Hall, to walk round the community in celebration of the 28th Ikorodu Oga Day.

The Chairman, Ikorodu Development Association, IKODASS, Otunba Ganiu Olusegun Abiru, led the walk from Ikorodu Town Hall through Ita-Elewa- Ota-Ona - Ikorodu Garrage Roundabout and eventually terminated the walk at Ayangburen’s Palace, Ikorodu.

Speaking with MegaXpression Correspondent, Otunba Abiru explained that the programme is designed to improve the health of the people. "It is a way of getting the people fit physically, mentally and to improve their living condition through exercise," he said.

He further enjoined the elites who hailed from Ikorodu but are not recognized, to come back home, join hands with other elites and work together in achieving a set goal of uplifting Ikorodu to a greater height.

Also speaking with MegaXpression was the Fmr. Commissioner for Information, Lagos State and Agbaakin of Ikorodu Kingdom, Otunba (Sir) Ayodele Elesho, said the Fitness training is to kick start the Ikorodu Oga annual celebration, and to bring all Indigenes, both home abroad to contribute to the development of the community by raising money, providing facilities and infrastructure.

“This programme is not only for the indigenes alone, it opens to all sundry, both the indigenes, non indigenes, correspondent and well wishers both far and near. It’s also to promote tourism potentials that are still yielding in Ikorodu Division," Elesho explained. 

Various fitness trainings were later introduced and performed by all  participants at Ayangburen’s Palace, while other activities followed suit, while Alhaji Fatai Kolawole, IKODASS Deputy Chairman made the vote of thanks.

Mr Shakiru Sanni of Amoju branch, Lantan Onanusi Family in Igbogbo, was made the Olumale Eluku of Igbogbo few years back, and accused of insubordination, abused of tittle and total disrespect to the King, traditional institution of the land and Lantan Onanusi Family. During the meeting held at Osugbo Abalaye Shrine , where Lantan family were asked to pay fine of almost One million naira worth of sacrifice because of Mr Shakiru Sanni's misconduct, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali , emphasized that Shakiru Sanni's removal as Olumale Eluku was to safeguard the sanctity, culture, tradition, religion and prestige of Igbogbo
