IGBOGBO AGOG, AS THE COMMUNITY CELEBRATES 2019 ASA CULTURAL FESTIVAL. It's a celebration of our cultural heritage, Igbogbo Monarch reveals.

It is proverbially said that, any child who discards Culture has hung a bag of affliction for himself. It's another memorable day in Igbogbo on Wednesday, October 2, 2019, when the Adeboruwa Palace received the presence of HRM Oba Abdulsemiu Orimadegun Kasali, traditional Chiefs, sons and daughters of Igbogbo Kingdom to celebrate 'ASA' festival in Igbogbo Kingdom. 'ASA', was said to be a beautiful socio-cultural heritage of decades which usually harmonize the people  in the good old days.

It was a colourful display to the delight of the people of Igbogbo, the joyfulness of men and women in the Community knew no bound; the dancing of children, as they try to include themselves in the merriment of this splendor gives good meaning to the word "ASA festival". And the truthfulness of this claim is seen in the high turn-out of the people in Igbogbo kingdom.

Speaking with Chief Shotomiwa Oluwasesan, the Eleku ASA of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, said to MegaXpression Correspondent that, “ASA festival is the first traditional festival done in Yoruba land. It has been in existence for decades and it's a festival that is recognised in all Yoruba land, both indigene and non indigene can be a participant of the culture."

Shotomiwa added that, "although there are numerous stories about its history, but the most profound and widely believed account is that the cultural festival was inherited from Ile-ife."
