ODUNIYI, OGUNLEWE, OGUNMUYIWA, OTHERS EMERGE PIONEER EXECUTIVE OF IGBOGBO YOUTH COALITION, ASSURE OF STRONG SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITY. Moving the Community forward must be your priority, Igbogbo Monarch charges the youths.
It was another day of reckoning in the history of Igbogbo Kingdom on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, as the Igbogbo Youth Coalition, IYC, sworn in its pioneer executive members to govern the Affairs of the Association within the next three years. The inauguration which came up at the Palace of Adeboruwa, was said to bring about an ideal Igbogbo Youth in the 21st century.
The protem secretary of IYC, Mr Oduntan Taiwo Hassan, said in his administrative report that the goals set before the IYC is to expand the scope of Igbogbo Youth by partnering with organizations of similar goals, engendering of Youths involvement in politics and community affairs and so on. He also said human capital development and entrepreneurship building is an area of utmost importance and he hopes effort in that area will not waver.
The Chairman of electoral Committee, Mr Mani Shonubi called the names and positions of the newly elected executives of I.Y.C for the official swearing in ceremony. The names include:
1. Gbenga George ODUNIYI - President.
2. Ibikunle SHOPITAN -1st Vice President.
3. Basirat Adetutu BANJOKO - 2nd Vice President.
4. Ademola OGUNLEWE - General Secretary.
5. Comfort OLAFARE - Asst Secretary.
6. Isiska OMOSANYA - Treasurer.
7. Adewale ODUMUYIWA - Financial Secretary.
8. Kazeem OGUNMUYIWA - Project Coordinator 1.
9. Taofeek IPAYE - Project Coordinator 2.
10. Gbemileke BAKARE Esq- Legal Adviser.
11. Mutiu OGUNYEMI - Chief Whip.
12. Dr. Fatai ANDU - Welfare Officer.
13. Kabir RAZAK- Publicity Secretary.
Immediately after the swearing in, the newly elected President, Mr Gbenga Oduniyi, reacted to the giving assignment, he said he's offering a vision for the next three years. "I spoke of a real I.Y.C as being a life lived together, one where there is a commitment to equality, to strong sustainable Community, to the sharing of history and to the shaping of future together, recognizing our vulnerability, drawing on and enhancing our individual and collective capacities," he added.
The Guest Speaker, Barr S.O.K Shillings, in his eloquent message added that Igbogbo is a productive land with history. “If you want to be relevant in the 21st century, then you must be knowledgeable”, he said. He therefore charges Igbogbo youths to wake up from slumber.
"Igbogbo is a land of history, youth has role to play in the growth. They most rise up while the leaders must sincerely encourage them. You must think outside the box and fight for your right. Above all, Igbogbo youth must be knowledgeable by adding values through education," Barr. Shillings added.
The Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Comrade Olusesan Daini, congratulated the newly sworn in Executive of Igbogbo Youth Coalition, IYC, saying Igbogbo Youth should come out of their shell and involve in progressive activities to move the Community forward.
He said being a Chairman is a generational task which he decided to do in order to open doors for the coming generations to do and achieve what people think cannot be done.
He urges all to support his administration to move the LCDA forward. “sometimes people blame and judge me wrongly and it is because the people themselves aren’t doing their part and if they do theirs, it will be easier for me to do mine”, Chairman said.
Responding to questions from MegaXpression Correspondent, the Chairman said, “I expect the best from the new executives and I’m going to see the best of this because there are some people that cares about the development of this government. The I.Y.C should be accountable to the people and play a politics game for development with all totality."
Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun urged the youths of Igbogbo to stop complaining but rather have the zeal to move the Community forward. “Igbogbo is filled with qualified people, so, the youths should work hard in order to make themselves more useful," he added.
The Nigeria former Minister of Works and Infrastructure, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, in his remarks agitated for knowledge based Community in Igbogbo, saying in Igbogbo, there is land for farming, no factories but just human development. He said to gain admission into any university in Nigeria is not easy for the Igbogbo indigenes.
“I gave scholarships to every indigene because that’s how to promote a community. We need about 500 of our students in university. We must endeavour to plan and do research on the number of doctors or engineers we want to produce in Igbogbo and we also need functioning computer training centres," he said. He further urged the Igbogbo Development Association, IDEA, to shift their focus on the abandoned federal health centre in Igbogbo, and other projects like more Schools and computer centres.
His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulsemiu Orimadegun Kasali, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, while addressing the youth made emphases on the issue of nonchalant attitudes of some people which is one of the main reasons why Igbogbo isn’t developing.
The Monarch therefore urged the I.Y.C to work closely with IDEA, charges all to come together for the development of Igbogboland. He advised the youth to shun violence, cultism and any unlawful acts that might result in tarnishing the image of their family.
The former President of I.Y.C, Mr Omolaja Kehinde, also said to MegaXpression that the newly elected executives should run an inductive government and there must be a bridge between their potentials and achievements and they should have it at the back of their mind to take igbogbo to a greater height which is where we belong.
Also Hon Hameed Sholanke said to our correspondent that, “As the youth Chairman of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, I want to congratulate the newly elected Executive. As a team, they should work together, share ideas, experience as well to make sure I.Y.C goes beyond everyone’s expectations.
