EDO 2020 NATIONAL SPORTS FESTIVAL: TEAM LAGOS INTENSIFIES TRAINING, SAYS THE CHOICE OF IKORODU CAMP IS AWESOME. We are good to go and make Lagos State proud, players assures.

As the National Sports Festival, Edo 2020 is fast approaching, the Lagos State Team is not leaving any stone unturned, by being involved in rigorous training at the Ikorodu Camp in preparation for the tournament, both day and night in order to win more medals than before.

According to Idris Aminat, a Taekwondo fighter, while speaking with MegaXpression Community News, "we have being at Ikorodu camp since Sunday, March 8. No doubt, the environment is very good, we have been training and eating. Our coach are doing well, the training ground and the equipments provided for the trainings are awesome.

"With these level of quality here in Ikorodu, we are sure of winning more gold medals in the tournament. I was in Port Harcourt 2011, Eko 2012 and Abuja 2018. I had gold in Eko 2012 , two (2) silvers in Abuja 2018 and this year,  I hope and pray that I will have four (4) or more gold medals, Aminat boasted.

Rasheed Amusa Tokunbo, a Taekwondo fighter, applauded  the Lagos State Sports Commission, noting that the Lagos State government have done very well by the choice of bringing the camp to Ikorodu. "Camping is a very strategic exercise for any participants at this level of competition, so we hope that this earlier campaign will help everyone of us and make everyone prepared for the competition.

In the same vein, Oshinbote Omotayo, a Scrabble Player, also revealed to MegaXpression Community News that the choice of Ikorodu camping have truly helped her preparation. "I've been playing ever since I was young but I started playing as a professional for Lagos State in 2012. I attended Eko 2012 but didn't attend Abuja 2018. For the fact that the camping have been conducive for Scrabble and we are comfortable, so, Scrabble for Lagos state is a Medal Sport, however, it is an assurance that at least, five (5) or six (6) gold medals are certain," Omotayo said.

"Last tournament we had a lot of issues because the female did not go but we won two(2) silvers. So this time around, the players have been in a very good term with themselves and we have been training very well and trying to bring out the best from ourselves. So this year will be superb hopefully," she added.

While speaking with one of the Aides to the Director General, Lagos State Sports Commission, said the camping will last for 13 days, and ends on March 21. "More than 680 athletes are involved in the closed camping, which is holding at Agbowa Relief Camp, Ikorodu and the Lagos State Polytechnic Ikorodu," he said.

He further stated that the Team Lagos will take part in 40 sports, including eight team Sports and 32 individual sports at this year’s National Sports Festival in Edo State, which takes place from March 20 to April 2. Athletes camped at Agbowa are training at the Lagos State Polytechnic, Ikorodu, Strong Tower Academy, Ikorodu, and Model College, Igbogbo.
