Igbogbo All-Star FC on Sunday emerged winner of the Hon. Abiodun Moshood Aro's All Stars Unity Cup Competition, by defeating Makbet All-Star FC in the final match at the Nepa Playing Ground, Egbin, Ijede LCDA. The Igbogbo All-Star FC defeated the Makbet All-Star FC 10 – 9 penalty shootout to lift the trophy.
Playing in front of hundreds of spectators, the two sides opened the encounter in a hurry to undo each other. They continued by throwing in everything to put the ball at the back of the net, only for the two teams' defense to stand solid at the back.
The two teams were became more desperate to savage the situation, but all efforts by the both sides to score in the first half proved abortive. The match later ended in 0 - 0 draw after the 90 minutes, before Igbogbo All-Star FC defeated its counterpart through penalties, MegaXpression News reports.
Speaking on the occasion, Hon. Abiodun Moshood Aro, AMA, said that the significance of the competition reflected in Ikorodu Constituency II social responsibility, toward the development of sports in Ijede, Igbogbo and Imota Communities. The Lawmaker, Hon. AMA, thanked the Royal Fathers and APC Chieftains that graced the event with their presence, while equally applauding the members of the organizing committee for making the football competition a memorable one.
Earlier, the DG of 'AMA Smile Foundation', Hon. Adewale Bolowotan, said in his welcome address the tournament was tailored specifically for men aged 40 and above, has strengthened bonds across Ikorodu Constituency II while promoting fitness, sportsmanship, and a shared vision for progress.
"Over the past four weeks, the matches held at four major centers in Ikorodu Constituency II is not competition but reflection and celebration of our collective strengths and the boundless energy of our people.
