FRESH AIR IN IPAKODO COMMUNITY, AS OBA (ENGR.) BASHIR AREMU SOTONWA BECOMES THE NEW SEKUMADE OF IPAKODO KINGDOM. | Shakiru Seidu. I urged you to give unalloyed support to the new Monarch in order to safeguard sanctity of this sacred and highly reserved institution, Gov. Ambode appealed to the people of Ipakodo.
Everyone unequivocally rejoiced as HRM Alaiyeluwa, Oba (Engr.) Bashir Aremu Sotonwa, Osomeku 1, ascended the throne of his forefathers on the 1st of February, 2018. There is no much ado that the choice of a quiet achiever, a talented, eloquent, liberal, visionary, committed, cultured, goal-getter, an orator and a profound gentleman, will surely bring progress to Ipakodo Kingdom.
In his welcome address during the presentation of Staff of Office, the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Mr Muslim Folami said the government has scrutinized and accepted that due process has been followed in the selection of the Sekumade of Ipakodo, MegaXpression revealed.
According to Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, the executive Governor of Lagos State, when addressing the gathering said, it would be recalled that the people of Ipakodo in Ikorodu West LCDA were persistent in their request for a traditional ruler after the immediate past Oba joined his ancestors over 18years now. The request passed through due process and the government approved the appointment of His Royal Majesty, Oba (Engr) Bashir Aremu Sotonwa, Osomeku 1, as the Sekumade of Ipakodo kingdom, the Governor added.
Ambode therefore congratulated the new King and the entire people of Ipakodo land and urged them to give unalloyed support to the new monarch in order to enable him to continue to safeguard the sanctity of this sacred and highly reserved institution.
In his eloquent remarks, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Engr.) Bashir Aremu Sotonwa, Sekumade of Ipakodo, thanked the Lagos State Government under the able leadership of Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, who has deemed it fit to consider him as a credible replacement for the departed Monarch, Oba Hassan Jimbo. He also appreciated the Royal Heads in Ikorodu Division for their unalloyed support.
Oba Sotonwa further used the opportunity to thank the ruling houses in Ipakodo for the sacrifices made towards achieving this success. He however assured that all outstanding issues relating to the stool will be given urgent attention.
Later after the closing remarks from the executive Chairman, Ikorodu West LCDA, Princess Jumoke Jumbo Adetimehin, the Kabiyesi, Oba Sotonwa was led to Ipebi.
Those that witnessed the occasion include the Governor Akinwunmi Ambode who was ably represented by Hon Muslim Folami, the Royal heads in Ikorodu Division, His Royal Majesties, Ayagburen of Ikorodu, Ranodu of Imota, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, Obateru of Egbin Kingdom and Olubeshe of Ibeshe land.
Others were Chairman Ikorodu West LCDA, Princess Jumoke Jumbo, Chief B.O. Benson SAN, Sen. Adeseye Ogunlewe, Otunba Ayodele Elesho, Lt. Col. BC Eze, Royal Houses in Ipakodo, Regent of Ijede, High Chiefs from Ikorodu Division, religious leaders, league of Baales, among others.
