IKORODU ECONOMIC SUMMIT 2018: STAKEHOLDERS, PROFESSIONALS, OTHERS, MEET TO RESUSCITATE THE STAGNANT ECONOMY OF IKORODU DIVISION. | Shakiru Seidu. Ikorodu Oga Development Association (IKODASS) in conjunction with Advocacy for Community Economic Development (A-CED) on Thursday, 22nd of February, 2018, at Origin Gardens and Zoo, Ebute, engages Stakeholders, private Sectors, and Civil Society on key developmental issues and economic Policies in Ikorodu Division.
In his welcome address, the Chairman of IKODASS, Otunba Ganiu Abiru, expressed joy and enthusiasm seeing the arrays of highly respected Royal Majesties and dignitaries at the epoch making event which is the first of its kind in Ikorodu Division.
Abiru urged elders of Ikorodu Division to see this project as theirs. He reaffirmed the determination of IKODASS to build minds of the teeming Youth for the future of Ikorodu Division. He further reassured that the scenario of land grabbers called Ajagungbale and Badoo which have initially given negative image to the reputable name of Ikorodu had been properly addressed by the Lagos State Government. "Business can now thrive in Ikorodu Division," he concluded.
Hon Babajimi Benson, Member, federal House of Representatives, when earlier engaged in a brief interview by Shakiru Seidu of MegaXpression Magazine, said, the hospitality and friendly disposition of his people cannot be quantified, he therefore enjoined Business Moguls in the world to invest in the growth and Economy of Ikorodu Division."
"In recent times, conscious efforts have been made to place more emphasis on strategic interventions without de-emphasizing the other sectors of the Economy, I believe the outcome of this Summit will further influence public Policy that will enhance economic growth of Ikorodu Division," Hon Benson added.
In her key note address, the Honourable Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, Barr. Olayinka Oladunjoye, applauded the organisers and considered the theme, "Stabilizing the Local Economy", as most appropriate and relevant in the view of committed efforts of the present administration in boosting and stabilizing the economy of various communities in the State.
She emphasized that the present administration, under the leadership of His Excellency, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode has been generous to Ikorodu Division. Among which are Construction of Owutu Ishawo Arepo road, Construction of Igbogbo /Igbe road, Construction of Government Chalet, construction of massive mall, Imota industrial park, regional community market in Imota, among others.
She therefore assured the people of Ikorodu Division that, as a Government, they will continue to provide promotional tools through policies and programmes tailored towards the task of achieving the goal of sustainable trade, industrial and economic development of Ikorodu Division.
The Chairman of the Summit, Dr. Temitope Oshikoya, Oka-Oluwa Oke Godwin, Dr. Olukayode Bawa-Allah, Prince Abiola Kosoko, Dr. T.A. Okeowo, Prince Wale Oyekoya, Mrs Kemi Ajiboye, Mr Joseph Agunbiade, Mr Shola Adewunmi, Mr F.O. Lasisi and Mr Seun Onogbinde gave robust discussion to issues affecting Shore-line development, Agriculture, Tourism, civic engagement, software development, among others.
The Summit witnessed the presence of high profile personalities, which include the Royal Heads, His Royal Majesties, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, Obateru of Egbin, Olubeshe of Ibeshe and Olisa of Ipakodo.
Former Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and former SSG of Lagos State, Sen Adeseye Ogunlewe, and Chief Olorunfunmi Basorun, Hon Babajimi Benson, MHR, Hon SOB Agunbiade, ML, Hon.
