AYANGBUREN'S WIFE, OLORI KUDIRAT SHOTOBI CELEBRATES CHRISTMAS WITH SCHOOL PUPILS, GIVES SCHOLARSHIP TO FIVE. ...Kaoli, Elesho, others applaud the gesture.

Olori Kudirat Abosede Shotobi, the wife of HRM Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, was on Thursday hosted this year's annual Royal Xmas reception with the pupils of primary schools across Ikorodu Division, giving scholarship to five best selected students.

At the festive celebration, which was held at the Ayangburen palace in Ikorodu was celebrated in a low key because of Covid-19 Pandemic and had in attendance, the traditional chiefs, Honourary chiefs, Local Government Education Authority officials, whose rejoiced with the monarch and his queen, Olori Kudirat Shotobi, in giving a befitting reception to the children.

A 10 year old girl, Akingbemisola Mary Oluwadarasimi of Estate Model Nursery and Primary School Ikorodu, 9 year old girl, Ejioye Jomiloju of Islamiyyah Primary School Ikorodu, 11 year old girl, Oladele Mary Oluwatosin, from U.P.E Ajaguro Primary School Ikorodu, another 10 year old girl, Abdulramon Taiwo from C.P.S Agodo Alare School, Ikorodu and a 13 year old boy, Onabanjo Ayomide from Anglican Primary School, Offin-Ile, Ikorodu, were giving scholarship and went home with N50,000 cheques and bags with Education materials.

While addressing the gathering, Olori Kudirat Abosede Shotobi, expressed her enthusiasm over the fifth annual reception, noting that the event is always a Christmas party for the children and to socialize with the little ones.

"I want implore you to be resolute  and determine in all your undertakings most especially in your academic pursuit. The Covid-19 pandemic has provided better opportunities for learning in schools, I therefore challenge you not to allow all the new learning platforms and styles learnt during the pandemic slip away," Olori Shotobi advised the pupils. 

"And to the mothers, let us fight the war against our children becoming criminals, let's educate them on what to do and how to become the glory of our nation," she pleaded.

Olori Shotobi therefore thanked all who made this year's edition possible. "My appreciation goes to my husband, HRM Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu kingdom, all individuals and corporate sponsors for their gifts both in cash and kind. Special thanks to Dr. Temitope Oshikoya Education Endowment Fund, ably managed by STL Trustees," she thanked. 


Earlier, former Commissioner for Information and the Agbaakin of Ikorodu Kingdom, Otunba Ayodele Elesho, said this year's programme ought to have been celebrated in an elaborate way as it's been done since the past four years, but because of the deadly pandemic that the world is facing presently, it could not be celebrated the same way, therefore urging the children to focus on their education and improve on whatever standard they have attained.

"I want to commend the LGEA Ikorodu for what you are doing and I equally assure that the Kabiyesi and Queen will continue to collaborate with you. We will likewise encourage all our leaders and well being people in the community to collaborate with you,  so that our children can move forward," Elesho said. 

Also, former Commissioner for Agriculture and the Asipa of Ikorodu, Chief Kaoli Olusanya said in any attempt to build our community for greatness, the best you can do is to invest in human capital resources of our community so that they will get to a very high places in life. 

Kaoli, however appreciated the gesture of Olori Kudirat Abosede Shotobi and the support giving by the LGEA Ikorodu, stating that the best among the five pupils benefited from Olori Shotobi's gesture, will equally be offered six years scholarship at Kit and Kith Educational Schools. I assure of doing this every year to compliment what the Queen is doing," Kaoli said.

While commending the gesture of the Queen, the Education Secretary, LGEA Ikorodu, Mr Afolabi Amusa said, thanked the the King and his amiable wife for the kind gesture, noting that it will go a long way in the history of those children.

In his royal remark, HRM Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, expressed his profound appreciations to the former Director at Central Bank of Nigeria, for the scholarship award and honouring their demand.

"I wish to thank the teachers for the dedication of the success of the  students and I pray that may God Almighty bless you all. You can only be successful in life through your self determination", Kabiyesi said.

"My wife has dedicated herself, been a mother, to encourage the upbringing not to grow up to become miserable to the society, noting that as a nation, we have lost the track in the 80s and their is need to catch the children young.

"We also want to encourage some of the parents that are not privileged by encouraging them that education is the key and prime mover for whatsoever you want to achieve in the world today," Oba stated.

He therefore enjoined the generality of Ikorodu residents to obey the government's directive about the simple preventive measures by ensuring social distance, washing of hands regular, wearing of face mask and do some steaming to prevent the coming back of Covid-19 pandemic.
