IGBOGBO DAY COMMITTEE VISITS ADEBORUWA PALACE, REVEALS PLANS FOR 32ND IGBOGBO DAY FESTIVAL. This year's edition is aimed to discuss progress and stability of Igbogbo, Gbenga Faniyi, Committee Chairman reveals.

The Igbogbo Day Planning Committee,  in conjunction with Igbogbo Development Association, IDEA, on Tuesday, visited the Adeboruwa-in-Council to reveal its plans for the 32nd edition of Igbogbo Day Celebration. The Planning Committee Chairman, Mr Gbenga Faniyi led the other members of the committee. 

Faniyi, while addressing the Monarch, Chiefs and Baales, he revealed that the Committee’s main goal on this year's edition is to assemble all prominent  sons and daughters of Igbogbo to seat together and discuss and come up with a communique on how Igbogbo can be better developed.

He reiterated that the Committee’s objective is equally not to organise the Igbogbo Day, but to continuing carrying out total re-packaging and rebranding of Igbogbo to suit recent developments in Lagos State and the world.

According to him, Faniyi reiterated that this year's event will be celebrated on a low key based on the prevailing circumstance of Covid'19 not only in Nigeria but all over the world. 

"The Igbogbo day ceremony is a yearly event and this will be the 32nd edition in which the yearly event has assumed a wider dimension and it is indeed part of tourist attraction, not only in Igbogbo but also in Lagos state. 

"The 32nd edition will hold as follows:

DAY 1: 
Thursday, December 10, 2020
IWURE DAY
Venue: Adeboruwa Palace 
Time: 6:00am

ADVOCACY WALK AGAINST VIOLENCE & YOUTHFUL EXUBERANCE
Take off point: Adeboruwa Palace.
Time: 8:00am

• OLOJA DAY
Venue: Kaniyi Owode Market Igbogbo.
Time: 10am

DAY 2:
Friday 11th December, 2020
SPECIAL JUMAT SERVICE
Venue: Igbogbo Central Mosque
Time: 1pm.

RAM FIGHTING COMPETITION
Venue: Igbogbo Stadium 
Time: 3:00pm

DAY 3:
STAKEHOLDERS SUMMIT AND GRAND FINALE
Venue: Mikky Onas Hall Igbogbo. 
Time: 12:00pm

DAY 4
SPECIAL THANKSGIVING SERVICE.
Venue: U.A.M.Church Cathedral 
Time: 12:00pm

In response to the submission, the Odofin of Igbogbo, High Chief Tajudeen Onasanya, urged the committee to be more proactive, noting that the 9th Igbogbob Day has been the most successful celebration. 

"I want to enjoin the Igbogbo day committee to extend the invitations beyond those leaving within," Chief Onasanya said.

He advised to embrace donations on this edition again the initial plan of not collecting donations from people. While equally charged them to commence the project of Igbogbo Town Hall.

In his royal remarks, HRM Oba AbdulSemiu Orimadegun Kasali  Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, appealed passionately to all sons and daughters of Igbogbo to embrace peaceful coexistence, nothing that the development of our dear community should be our concern.

Mr Shakiru Sanni of Amoju branch, Lantan Onanusi Family in Igbogbo, was made the Olumale Eluku of Igbogbo few years back, and accused of insubordination, abused of tittle and total disrespect to the King, traditional institution of the land and Lantan Onanusi Family.
