BABAJIMI BENSON UPLIFTS CONSTITUENTS WITH ITEMS WORTH OF OVER 40MILLION NAIRA. | Shakiru Seidu. Endorsed for second term by the Royal Heads of Ikorodu Division.
It was a moment of joy in Ikorodu Division on Monday, July 16, 2018, when smiles were busy flowing on the faces of APC party faithfuls during a well organised Mega upliftment Programme powered by the lawmaker representing Ikorodu federal constituency, Hon Babajimi Adegoke Benson, where over 1000 party members benefited .
The event which took place at his constituency Office, Igbogbo, was strictly for party members and loyalists across the 30 wards in Ikorodu Local Government, Igbogbo/Bayeku, Ijede, Imota, Ikorodu North and Ikorodu West LCDAs.
Among the numerous items that were distributed to all those who were selected as beneficiaries, were Tricycles, Motorcycles, Deep Freezers, Vulcanizing Machines, Hair Dryers, Power Generating Sets, Sewing Machines, Granding machines, Gas & utensils and provision of financial grants of 3million naira to the six market women associations in Ikorodu Division, and to be shared among 150 beneficiaries or more.
According to Hon Babajimi Benson, the empowerment programme was to reduce the level of unemployment in the society, thereby encouraging the promotion of vocational skills among his constituents.
“Before now, we have done a lot to empowerment men, women, youths and various associations, and more so, over 10,000 people have benefited from our iCARE Foodbank distribution in order to alleviate poverty in our society.
“This is our own effort to ensure that unemployment and hunger are considerably reduced to the barest minimum in our society and this shows that our party, All Progressives Congress (APC) feels the plight of the people."
He went further while speaking with Shakiru Seidu of MegaXpression Magazine, “My recent achievement on Ikorodu/Shagamu road construction is just one of the numerous projects that I have implemented since 2015. Till date, I am proud to say that I have successfully executed Constituency Projects across the 6 Councils of Ikorodu Division. Some of these projects include: 8 Classroom Blocks, ICT Centre, named after Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, Public Health Centre, 5 Power Transformers, Boreholes, Streetlights on arterial roads, Grader & Roller for streets grading, employment opportunities and among others”.
While advising the beneficiaries on the empowerment tools, JB, as he popularly called said, ”it would be a thing of joy to see all the beneficiaries, doing well with these empowerment tools." He further assured other party faithful, never to forget them and thanked all for the love and support bestowed on him and his family.
Reacting to Hon Babajimi Benson’s gesture, the former Deputy Governor, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, former SSGs, Chief Olorunfunmi Basorun and Princess Adenrele Ogunsanya, APC deputy State Chairman, Dr. Sunny Ajose, APC State Women leader, Hon Jumoke Okoya-Thomas, former Acting Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Hon Adebimpe Akinsola, former Clerk of the State Assembly, Otunba Ganiu Abiru, other APC Chieftains and traditional rulers from Ikorodu Division, headed by the paramount ruler, HRM Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, Ayangburen of Ikorodu, all concluded that the initiative was a laudable one, stating that it is a thing of joy to witness the party members showcasing their joy that their sacrifices and belief in the party didn’t go in vain. They advised the beneficiaries to make use of the empowerment tools judiciously. The Royal Heads therefore unanimously endorsed Hon Babajimi Benson to go for another term and endowed him with royal blessings.
The beneficiaries too could not hide their joy as most of them showered words of praise on the erudite legislator for the timely gesture. One Mrs Adeola Shokunbi said that she has been running from pillar to post looking for a means to obtain a better hairdryer machine, but this sudden gift of Dryer is just like an icing on the cake.
“I am more than glad at the moment, I wasn’t expecting this at all, now I can go to any length to announce that the All Progressives Party is the true party that can bring the dividends of Democracy to the common man on the street," she said.
In his reaction, Mr Adewale Kazeem, who has been hiring his vulcanizing tool to survive on a daily basis could not hide his feelings by showering encomiums on the lawmaker. “It is a good feeling today that I am counted worthy to be one of the beneficiaries of this empowerment programme. May the Lord God be with Hon Babajimi Benson because we gave him our vote back then in 2015 and here we are today reaping the fruits of our labour. I am indeed overwhelmed by this gesture," he revealed.
Among other dignitaries at the historic upliftment were His Royal Majesties, Oba Mudashiru Ajibade Agoro, Ranodu of Imota, Oba Abdulsemiu Orimadegun Kasali, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo kingdom, Oba AbdulAkeem Adeoriyomi Oyebo, Obateru of Egbin Kingdom, Oba Richard Ogunsanya, Olubeshe of Ibeshe land, Chief Adenrele Olowu, Mr Wasiu Adeshina of Ikorodu LG, Comr Olusesan Daini, Alhaji Fatiu Salisu, Prince Wasiu Agoro, Hon Adebisi Banjo and Princess Jumoke Jumbo of Igbogbo/Bayeku, Ijede, Imota, Ikorodu North and Ikorodu West LCDAs.
