IKORODU NDIGBO ENDORSE AMBODE FOR 2ND TERM. | Shakiru Seidu. "It's payback time for his kind gesture on Sabo Market demolition", group leader reveals.

The house compound of the former SSG, Lagos State, Princess Adenrele Ogunsanya, was on friday, 31st of June, 2018, agog as the Igbo community assembly, Sabo Market Branch, gathered to endorse Governor Akinwumi Ambode to continue piloting the State affairs for the next four years.

Speaking at the endorsement rally in Ikorodu, the Chairman of the group, Mr Nwabuisi Patrick (Ultimate), said Igbo people in Sabo market had resolved to once again support Governor Ambode in the 2019 governorship election.

Nwabuisi noted that Igbo people had seen the transformation going on across the State which has silenced the opposition adding that “in recognition of his hard work, we are going to come out in large number to support him once again through voting.”

He said: “We have all resolved to use this event to endorse Governor Ambode for a second term based on the fact that he has performed extremely well, we can all see that everything he has done in Lagos State, no other state has been able to do that.

"His record breaking administration has impacted hugely and virtually on every Lagosian, including market women and men, through various people-oriented programmes and projects which were fairly distributed across the state.

"More importantly, this endorsement became necessary because of the exemplary leadership demonstrated by Governor Ambode during the illegal demolition of over 700 Shops and stalls with goods worth several billions of naira at the Block B section of the Sabo market on May 4, 2017, by some military men, over the disagreement we had with some people who had vested interest in the re-development of shops in the section.

"Though, the memories of that sad incident are still very fresh in the hearts of those of us affected by the demolition, we have, however, taken solace in the role played by Governor Ambode in ensuring that our interests were well protected in the redevelopment plans of the demolished shops and today, most of us have repossessed our shops after reconstruction, courtesy of Governor Ambode’s support."

He further revealed to MegaXpression Magazine that if not for Governor Ambode’s timely intervention and support for Igbos, the perpetrators of the unlawful demolition would have succeeded in their plan to take over their shops and this would have affected the traders, particularly those of them who are of the Igbo extraction, as they could have been forced to relocate to their respective States in the Eastern part of the country.

"To this end, we have unanimously resolved among ourselves to repay the governor’s kind gesture by massively and unconditionally support his re-election with our votes in the 2019 General Elections", the Chairman revealed.

Nwabuisi further reiterated the efforts to mobilise their people for PVC collection. "We have been moving around to mobilize traders, especially Igbo traders, who have not obtained their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC), to go and get their card so that we can all vote for Governor Ambode in appreciation of his support for us during the demolition saga.

"As I am speaking with you now, most of our members who we have approached to go and obtain their PVC have done so and are willing and ready to vote for Governor Ambode. I thank them for their cooperation in the regard. For those who are yet to do so, I want to use this medium to appeal to you that you should, please, go and obtain your own PVC and when you do so, don’t stay at home on election day, go out to your respective polling units to cast your vote for Governor Ambode, so that he can be re-elected to continue the good work he has been doing in Lagos State. Nwabuisi revealed while speaking with MegaXpression Magazine.

The host and one of the APC Apex leaders, Ikorodu Division, Princess Adenrele Ogunsanya, also restated to Shakiru Seidu of MegaXpression Magazine that Ikorodu is going to benefit more if Ambode is voted in for second term because he has done very well for the Division and he will still do more if given the opportunity.

"One again, I want to use this medium to affirm our collective endorsement of Governor Ambode for second term in Ikorodu and we shall do everything humanly possible to mobilize support for his re-election in 2019 in our respective capacity", Princess Adenrele said.

The Vice Chairman, Ikorodu local government, Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba, shared same vision with the Igbo community assembly and enjoined other tribes not to relent on PVC collection.
