The funeral service of late Sigismund Adedamola Akinsola in Abeokuta.

All roads were led to the ancient town of Abeokuta on Friday, January 28, 2022, when the former Ag. Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, and Member, Lagos Seventh Assembly, Hon. Adebimpe Akinsola, buried her husband, Mr Sigismund Adedamola Akinsola, in style, MegaXpression Media was there.

The funeral service was attended by the Senator, representing Lagos East, Sen. Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, former Minister of Works and Infrastructure, Sen. Adeseye Ogunlewe, Majority Leader, Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. SOB Agunbiade and wife, Alhaja Tairat Agunbiade, representative of Somolu Constituency II, Hon. Rotimi Abiru, former Lagos Assembly Clerk and immediate past IKODASS Chairman, Otunba Ganiyu Olusegun Abiru, former Commissioner for Information and Agbaakin of Ikorodu, Otunba Ayodele Elesho, IDEA Secretary, Engr. Lateef Oduntan, Engr. Femi Kalejaiye, Mr Jimoh Hamzat and Mr Enitan Olukotun.

Other notable personalities in attendance include the former Deputy Governor, Lagos State, Mrs Serah Sosan, who was ably represented, Members of Onasanya and Seidu families from Igbogbo, Asiwaju 2023 Support Group, United Sisters International, Women of Substance Ikorodu, Members of Ikorodu Division Peace and Security Initiative, APC Stalwarts from Igbogbo, amongst others.

Mainwhile, if eulogies could bring the dead back to life, Late Mr Sigismund Adedamola Akinsola would have risen from the white casket bearing his remains, while MegaXpression Media collects tributes.

Late Mr Akinsola's Children, family members, friends and Associates, who wore white aso ebi, were seated by 10am for the scheduled 11am service at the St. Matthew's Anglican Church, Adigbe, Abeokuta.

Venerable 'Femi Olalekan James, the Archdeacon of Ibara Archdeaconry in Egba West Diocese of Anglican Communion, gave the sermon, urging all to live worthy lives. “Let us begin to number our days and live in wisdom,” he preached.

Venerable James urged Christians to have hope as Jesus Christ lives on. The children and grand children thereafter went before the Cleric for a special prayer. The burial site in the family home of the Akinsola was restricted to family members. Hon. Adebimpe and other Akinsola family members performed the dust-to-dust rite before the remains were lowered to the grave.

Late Sigismund Adedamola Akinsola, who was survived by Ayoola, Funmi, Adeola Morolawun, Olumide, Adefolahan, Oluwagbemisola Adedayo and Eniola Akinsola, was born on Thursday, 17th September, 1942 in Lagos to Mr.samuel Adebesin Akinsola and Mrs Eunice Omotunde Akinsola (Nee Siwoku). He was the second of 14 children and the first son of his parents.

Late Sigismund began his diplomatic Career in the 1970's with the Ministry of External Affairs (now Foreign Affairs) where he served until his retirement in 2002, as a senior foreign service officer. He went on various diplomatic missions that took him to Cameroun , Kuwait, USA and Mauritania, amongst other places. 

On till his death, Late Sigismund Akinsola was an Anglican to the core, attending All Saint  Aglican church, Yaba, while he lived in Lagos , All Saints Aglican Church, Kemta-Kobiti and recently, St. Matthew's Aglican Church Adigbe due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2020. He was married and blessed with children and grandchildren.

Mr Shakiru Sanni of Amoju branch, Lantan Onanusi Family in Igbogbo, was made the Olumale Eluku of Igbogbo few years back, and accused of insubordination, abused of tittle and total disrespect to the King, traditional institution of the land and Lantan Onanusi Family.
