LAGOS EAST: SENATOR TOKUNBO ABIRU AND HIS PRODIGIOUS REPRESENTATION IN LESS THAN TWO YEARS. By Shakiru Seidu

Sen. Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru FCA, representing Lagos East Senatorial District.

When the turn of events in the political arena of Nigeria is in place, performance is no doubt a yardstick to gain the trust of the people. My observation is NOT different on Lagos East Senatorial District as we approach election period.

One man who won the 2020 Bye-election of Lagos East Senatorial District, Distinguished Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru FCA, had recently being in the centre of every media houses, particularly MegaXpression Media, due to his uncommon performance and superlative representation at the Red Chamber.

Abiru, the Chairman, Senate Committee On Industries, representing Lagos East Senatorial District, came aboard with a zeal to make a significant difference and put smiles on the faces of his Constituents, when it seems like no hope.

The heroic story of Sen. Tokunbo Abiru, who is generally known and refer to as “Abiru Bambam”, is a man with salient great achievements as a Senator in the Upper Chamber. His concern for the plight of the poor necessitated the continuation of the financial support scheme to ease the hardship of the vulnerable at the bottom of the socio-economic pyramid.

Abiru's ideology in life is "Be good to all and help people, not minding either you know them or not”. He's a gentleman, down to earth per excellence, this articulate Senator has many unsung testimony of achievements in less than two years of his stewardship of serving the people of Lagos East Senatorial.
His progressive ideals over the years as Bank MD, has endeared him closer to the people and indeed fetched him the overwhelmingly acceptance by my humble self and general populace.

Abiru, who had won several hearts of his Constituents, was equally added to his feather in January 2021, with the Pillar Award by MegaXpression Media, where he bagged the MOST PROMISING LEADER AWARD in Lagos State, for his outstanding performance in the private sector.

Glancing through some of his achievements, it is on record that the distinguished Senator, had able to be DOING GOOD. For fourteen (14) consecutive months, people with physical disabilities, widows, aged, unemployed youths and women have been receiving support from Senator Abiru on a monthly basis. And the scheme has been on since January 2021.
For the records, the Senator recently established an Innovation Hub in the Lagos East district, known as the Senator Abiru Innovation Lab (SAIL) in partnership with a renowned Technology and Social Enterprise Company,

The Co-creation Hub (Cc-HUB) are to train youths in the senatorial district on relevant digital and innovation skills, and build the best entrepreneurs that can compete in the ever-dynamic global economy.

Also, over four thousand (4,000) young people across the Lagos East Senatorial District applied for the SAIL programmes, and over One Hundred and Fifty (150) students have participated in the five (5) Pilot Programmes at the SAIL Centre in Ikorodu, while over One Thousand (1000) eligible applicants trained online.

The #DoingGood Senator has also facilitated N300 Million Constituency Intervention Revolving Loan at a low concessional interest rate of Six (6) percent per annum for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the district.

The bursary for the 600 tertiary students across Lagos East Senatorial District, would not be forgotten in a hurry. The Hospitals and blocks of classrooms with solar power Boreholes across the Lagos East are second to none.

Inside Lagos State University of Technology, formerly known as LASPOTECH, Abiru had facilitated 600 units solar-powered street lights stretching from the library complex by the Rector's office to the main road that leads to the school's first gate. The lights are ingrained with sensors that trigger brightness when people get closer to them.

I'll continue to go on and on when it's comes to the unprecedented achievements of Sen. Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru FCA, on which he has gained my FULL SUPPORT to represent the good people of Lagos East Senatorial District, at the Upper Chamber in 2023.

To be continued...
