House of Representatives Member, representing Ikorodu federal Constituency and Chairman House Committee on Defence, Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, The DG, Lagos State Sports Commission, Prince Toyin Gafaar Bolowotan, Board Member, Lagos State Sports Commission, Dr. Abiodun Fatai-Abatan has commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu over his continued support for sports and quality leadership in Lagos State and Ikorodu Division in particular.

These commendations were made on Thursday while responding to questions from MegaXpression Media, during the official commissioning of Ikorodu computerized Youth Centre and Ita-Elewa Mini-Stadium, facilitated by the member, House of Representatives, representing Ikorodu federal Constituency, Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, through the office of the Senior Special Assistant on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to the President, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire. 

The redevelopment of the Ita-Elewa recreational Centre and playing field into the first major functional sporting facility in Ikorodu Federal Constituency was made possible through budgetary provision by the Federal Government through the OSSAP-SDGs.

The commissioned sporting facility is a 5–Aside synthetic turf football pitch with a concrete spectator stand, basketball and lawn tennis courts. The reconstructed stadium also has an indoor games hall, gym hall, players changing room and a sickbay.

According to Hon. Babajimi Benson, "I am grateful to have the Governor commissioned the Ikorodu Mini Stadium at Ita Elewa as facilitated by myself through the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals, Princess, Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire. 

"It was also a delightful moment as Mr Governor scored the first penalty kick against me as the  goalkeeper to further demonstrate our gratitude to the governor. With your continued support and prayer, we will continue to facilitate impactful projects to Ikorodu," Benson opined.

Also, the Director General of Lagos State Sports Commission, Prince Toyin Gafaar Bolowotan, equally commended Gov. Sanwo-Olu's gesture, saying this will not only encourage youths to strive for greatness, but is also a testimony of sporting development in Ikorodu.

“We wish to thank His Excellency for this noble gesture of honouring Ikorodu people, and in the process, encouraging our youths to keep focus," Bolowotan stated.
