Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Executive Governor of Lagos State, during his One Day Visit to Ikorodu Division.
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu received a rousing welcome from the residents of Ikorodu LG, Igbogbo /Bayeku, Ikorodu West, Ijede, Ikorodu North and Imota LCDAs, during his working visit to the area, describing the Chairmen of the Six Councils as good ambassadors of APC.
In his eloquent remarks, Sanwo-Olu listed the infrastructure scorecard and revealed that he has cleared the contract deal with the Arab Contractors, for work to commence on Elepe-Gberigbe Road.
He equally presented cheques to 20 out of the 74 Claimants, of the N500 million compensation on properties demolished for the Igbogbo/ Bola Ahmed Tinubu/ Igbe road projects, before he went for the official commissioning of Ikorodu Mini Sports Stadium at Ita-Elewa.

According to him, “the visit to Ikorodu today is to meet and engage with our citizens to see first-hand, how programmes and policies of our administration are touching and impacting lives. This visit comes with a package of treats for the youth, as I am pleased to deliver the newly completed Ikorodu Youth Centre here in Ita-Elewa. Also being commissioned is a mini stadium built by our Government.
“These youth-focused projects are to provide a conducive environment for sporting activities, while also catering for education needs and vocational development of our teeming youth population of Ikorodu and environs."

The Governor also informed the Ikorodu residents that the State Government had set aside funds for the overhaul of Odogunyan Expressway, a boundary road that connects Lagos and Ogun States. He said the only thing delaying the project was the counterpart funding from the Federal Government, promising that the rehabilitation work would commence on the road immediately the counterpart funds were made available to the contractor."
He added: “Ikorodu division offers the State a vast area of land for agricultural development. It is for this reason we chose the division as the site of the State-owned 32 Metric Tonnes per hour Imota Rice Mill, which is the largest in sub-Saharan Africa. We will be bringing Mr. President to commission the rice mill, which has annual production capacity of 2.5 million bags of 50kg rice."
Sanwo-olu thereafter praised all the Six Council Chairmen in the Division for good representation which the All Progressives Congress (APC) has at the grassroots, urging them to deliver more projects that would change the lives of the residents.
Speaking earlier on behalf of the Council Chairmen, Hon Wasiu Adeshina, Chairman Ikorodu LG, praised and commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for his numerous past and on-going State projects spread across the Division.
According to him, "On behalf of the good people of Ikorodu Division, I welcome you specially sir, as you pay a working visit to arguably the fastest growing Division in Lagos State. We are aware of your numerous giant strides and huge commitment to the development of Ikorodu, in terms of road constructions, both completed and on-going.
"The Oba Sekumade road is indeed a sight to behold as your administraion is permanently solving the challenge we are facing on the road with concrete pavement and I must say the contractor is doing a good job."
Adesina further Applauded the courage of the Governor for transmuting the Lagos State Polythecnic, Ikorodu into a University of Science and Technology. He echoed the voices of the millions of residents of the Division through a passionate appeal to the Governor for his intervention to some dilapidated roads in the Division.
"Your Excellency sir, like Oliver Twist, we want to make some passionate appeal on some areas that needs state attention. We want to appeal to the state government to assist in the construction of the second phase Agura-Gberigbe, Ijede road Phase 2 roads, construction of Oreta-Offin road in Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA as assured by you during your visit to commission Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA Secretariat, dualisation of Ojogbe-Ireshe road in Ikorodu. Upgrading of the Industrial Estate in Odongunyan and more importantly, upgrading of our Royal Palaces in Ikorodu Division, such as Imota, Igbogbo, Ikorodu, Isiwu, Ijede, Ipakodo and Ibeshe", Adesina submitted.
