IGBOGBO PRAYS FOR SANWO-OLU, ENJOINS ALL TO EMBRACE PEACEFUL COEXISTENCE IN IGBOGBO/BAYEKU LCDA. It's aimed at committing the State into the hands of God, Igbogbo Monarch reveals.

A large gathering of Muslim, Christian and traditional Clerics, on Wednesday, assembled at Adeboruwa Palace Igbogbo, to pray for the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, his Deputy, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat and the entire State Cabinet. 

The prayer, organised by the Igbogbo Development Association, IDEA, made up of people from various denominations, drawn from various parts of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, was put together in order to commit the State into the hands of the Almighty as the State begins a New Year.

The traditionalists were the first to lead in the prayer for the Governor, Deputy and the entire state cabinet. The prayer which later crowned in 'Osugbo' lineage, saw the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, HRM Oba AbdulSemiu Orimadegun Kasali, also praying for the residents of Igbogbo community, Lagos State and Nigeria at large.

The Muslim Clerics later took the stage to pray for Sanwo-Olu's administration. Alhaji Sefiu Imoloba and Imam Lukman Andu led the 'Utuba' and Sermon respectively. Imam Lukman enjoined all to respect positions of authority, saying it will enhance development and peaceful coexistence.

The Christian Clerics also did same by covering the Governor, Igbogbo Community and Lagos State with the blood of Jesus. They prayed tirelessly for Igbogbo Monarch and the community of Igbogbo.

While addressing the gathering, the Chairman of IDEA, Dr. Tunde Ogunlaja said they decided to utilise the period of New Year festival to commit the progress of the State, expressing optimism that with Governor Sanwo-Olu on the saddle as helmsman, the state is bound to grow in leaps and bounds in the midst of economic challenges across the country.

“There is still a lot of work to be done in the State, but Governor Sanwo-Olu has started on a very sound footing despite the economic challenges in the country. I am also very optimistic that the Governor will equally complete the Igbogbo/ Bola Ahmed Tinubu/ Igbe road project on time as promised," Ogunlaja said.

The Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Bldr. Olusesan Daini, in his eloquent remarks said the administration of Gov. Sanwo-Olu is characterised by series of laudable projects including improved road infrastructure, schools’ upgrade, improving the healthcare sector, and massive investment in the security apparatus in the State. He therefore implored all to continue praying for the Sanwo-Olu's administration, assuring that the Igbogbo/ Bola Ahmed Tinubu/ Igbe road rehabilitation is a done deal. 

The former S.A and Acting Commissioner, Tourism, Arts and Culture and Oluomo of Igbogboland, Hon Adebimpe Akinsola, congratulated the Monarch in her remarks. She urged the religious leaders to involve the worshippers in the annual prayer.  Akinsola further enjoined Igbogbo youth to key in the scheme of development, shun cultism and other unlawful acts, saying the future of Igbogbo is in their hands.

In his royal remarks, HRM Oba Abdulsemiu Orimadegun Kasali, stated that the call for prayers for a successful 2020 is necessary at this time, praying to Allah for socio economic development in all spheres of Igbogbo community, Lagos State and Nigeria in general.

The monarch further expressed appreciation to the various religious groups, Palace Chiefs, Honorary Chiefs, Baales, Sons and Daughters of Igbogboland who have been ups and doing to ensure Igbogbo community progresses.

Also in attendance at the special prayer are members of IDEA, Alhaji Ganiu Oduntan and Alhaji Waheed Kasali, the President, Councillors Forum in Nigeria, Hon Nurudeen Alimi, Hon Olalekan Ashafa of Ward C1, Hon Wasiu Olowu of Ward C2, Hon Matthew Arowolo of Ward C4, Hon Monsuru Kolejo of Ward C5, High Chiefs, league of Baales, league  of Imams, Pastors, Alhaji Olawale Amusa, Alhaji Mabadeje Raman, Mr Shakiru Seidu, Mr Hameed Aroyewun, Comrade Kazeem Ogunmuyiwa, Mr Tokunbo Ojulari, amongst others.

Mr Shakiru Sanni of Amoju branch, Lantan Onanusi Family in Igbogbo, was made the Olumale Eluku of Igbogbo few years back, and accused of insubordination, abused of tittle and total disrespect to the King, traditional institution of the land and Lantan Onanusi Family.
