Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA Chairman, Bldr Olusesan Mayokun Daini, has inaugurated a Joint Taskforce to tackle cultism and any unlawful activities in the LCDA.

The security outfit, codenamed ‘Igbogbo/Bayeku Joint Taskforce’ was inaugurated on Tuesday, as a tactical move to change the face of security architecture in the LCDA, MegaXpression reports.

The Chairman, in his address, said the efforts would go a long way to consolidate on the achievements recorded by his administration and as well helps to retain Igbogbo/Bayeku’s status as most secured and safest LCDA in Lagos.

Daini maintained that security remained a catalyst to socioeconomic development, adding that his government was conscious of nipping incursion of criminal elements into the LCDA in the bud. He noted that economic growth is only realistic in a safe environment.

He said, “Today’s flag-off crystallizes our bottom-up approach to fighting crime as we have involved security operatives across our LCDA to elicit inputs into our security architecture and operations.

“The Joint Task Force, which is headed by the Chief Security Officer, Mr Dare Igbasan, popularly known as 'Agali', is a collaboration of the Onyabo, Agbekoya, Neighborhood, OPC, Oranmiyan, VGN, Hunters and it shall provide operational support for Police to fight cultism and other related crimes. All these efforts are aimed at reducing the incursion of criminals into the State.

“Security for us is a comprehensive initiative which includes economic, social, political and other spheres. Our social investment programmes such as employment for youths, credit facilities for our people are designed to empower them and eliminate crimes. Indeed, the inclusion of this as a component of Joint Task Force is a proof that we take our economic and industrial initiatives seriously," Daini explained.

“I enjoin you to work together as a team, collaborate with other security outfits and employ the spirit of esprit de corps in the discharge of your duties. Eschew all acts that can compromise your calling and effectiveness, including bribery, corruption, high-handedness and executive recklessness.

“Let me admonish our people to cooperate with the Joint Task Force as they are at work in our collective interest," the Chairman added.

The DPO Ikorodu Division, CSP Remi Balogun, in his brief security information said, the JTF was set up because of the criminalities in the community which mostly occur among the youths.

"We had meetings with the local securities, the kabiyesi and the Council Chairman about seven months ago on how to reduce criminalities, stealing, fighting and vandalization in our community.

"The joint task force will be in every area within Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA so that even before the arrival of the Police officers at any area, they'll have gotten all necessary informations about any incident that might have happened and make the job easier for the Police officers," Balogun said.

The Adeboruwa of Igbogbo kingdom HRM.Oba Abdulsemiu Orimadegun Kasali, in his royal speech said, without missing words, the joint task force is going to be an added advantage to Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA in terms of security boosting and security arrangement, noting that security have become a challenging issue across the country.
