IKORODU MONARCH RECEIVES 56TH ICAN PRESIDENT, MRS ONOME JOY ADEWUYI. Assures of working in alliance with the institute for growth, development of Ikorodu Division.
The Ayangburen of Ikorodu, HRM Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, has received the presence of the 56th President of the Professional Accountants under the aegis of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Mrs Onome Joy Adewuyi, in his multi million naira Palace in Ikorodu.
In his remarks, the Monarch congratulated the ICAN President for her accession to the exaltation of been the President of ICAN all over the country, noting that he has vital role to play in introducing other organization that will be of beneficial to the Association. "I'm in love with your institute and I will do anything humanly possibly to make my doors open to you," he said.
Speaking earlier, the Agbaakin of Ikorodu, Otunba (Sir) Ayodele Elesho, said the Monarch understands what its meant to be a professional, stating that Oba Shotobi has been a professional on electrical engineer from the United State of American, worked very well in Nigeria and retired as Deputy Chief Engineer at WAPCO.
"In welcoming you, I want to urge the chairman of Ikorodu district here, that there are various programmes going on here that the institute needs to be actively reward. Anything that can bring peace, development and ensure stability in Ikorodu, your institute must be involved," Elesho said.
Addressing the Monarch and other notable personalities present, the 56th ICAN President Mrs Onome Joy Adewuyi, said her visit is part of the activities lined up in her two days working visit to Ikorodu and district society of ICAN as the district celebrate 10 years of existence in the institute history.
"Listening very carefully to the comment raise by one of the elders that spoke now concerning the palace relationship with the district society, I just want to confirm that report reaching us at the head office of the ICAN show that a few activities has been going on between the district and the Ikorodu people, maybe for one reason or the order due to communication gap they have not been able to report this activities," she said.
Adewuyi therefore expressed appreciation to HRM Oba kabir Adewale Shotobi, for the kind audience introduce into the chattered accountant organisation. "In Ikorodu, we really need you to restructure our internally trust fund and with you been here and giving us your professional advice, I'm sure the local government will listen carefully to you," Mrs Adewuyi said to monarch.
"Our institute is on advocate of development model and policy that takes into consideration the concerns and abuse of the grassroot. So, effective development agenda should take the views of traditional institutions and traditional rulers as this is the institution closest to the grassroot.
"ICAN in his 55years as produce over 52 thousand chattered accountants, 25 thousand accounting technicians and 350,000 student members and we have restructured our training programmes to ensure that members continue to provide excellent services to their clients, they are also equipped with the skills required to provide strategic decision to the organisations where they serve as directors of finance, Chief finance Officers, managing Directors and chief executives of many blue cheap companies and so on," she explained.
"Every year we do catch them young and we give scholarship award to students. Presently we have the most ICAN eight years brilliant students. We will continue to do more and in areas of development to our younger generation," Adewuyi added.
The ICAN President further stated that Ikorodu town as produce some of the finest chattered accountant in this country, noting that an illustrious son of Ikorodu is presently a respected member of the governing council of this institute.
"I just introduce to you the person of Reverend Samson Dusi, also some of the oldest members of the noble ICAN are either indigenes or resident of this great town which include Prince Olabode Ogunleye FCA, the oldest chattered accountant in Ikorodu, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye FCA the former deputy governor of Lagos State, Prince Dapo Odofin FCA and Prince Mobolade Olusheye Adedipe FCA," the ICAN President concluded.
Other dignitaries present are Vice President of ICAN, Mrs Comfort Eyitayo, Resigtar CE Ahmed Kumshe, Deputy Director, Mr Shehu Gbadamosi and other ICAN members, Asipa Kaoli Olusanya, Chairman APC Lagos East Senatorial District, Iyalode of Ikorodu, Councils of Baales, amongst others.
