The race for the next occupant of the Ikorodu North LCDA chairmanship position as now become more competitive with the official flag of the campaign by Hon. Shukura Adewunmi-Okeowo on Saturday.

Hon. Shukura  Adewunmi-Okeowo, a former Sole Administrator of the LCDA had earlier served as the supervisor of environment in the same LCDA for two terms before her appointment as the Sole Administrator between 2016-2017.

Addressing Ikorodu North APC Chieftains community stakeholders and her teaming supporters at the flag of ceremony noted that she joined the race in response to the clarian call by Lagos APC women wing which encouraged qualified women to make themselves available for elective position during the forthcoming Local Government election in the state.

She added that the forth-coming election also provides her with a unique opportunity built to contribute her quota to the LCDA that has given her immense opportunity to grow politically and career wise. Hon Adewunmi-Okeowo concluded that she is in the race to become the Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA in order to reposition the LCDA for optimal performance.

She decried the current situation where the massive potentials of the  LCDA in the area of population, agriculture, land mass and industrialization as remained largely  untapped for the benefit of resident, promising to maximize the full potentials of the LCDA if elected into office.

Speaking earlier, Ikorodu North APEX APC leader and father of the chairmanship aspirant, Alhaji Akibu Adewunmi noted that, though he is a father to all aspirants for the local government Elections, he is particularly in support of the aspiration of Hon. Shukura based on her track record and political antecedent since she joined politics in 1988 at a tender age of 20yrs. 

He added that her managerial acumen was put to test during her brief stint as the Sole Administrator of the Ikorodu North LCDA for 13 months. He regretted that, but for the respect for parties decision that she would had contested the 2019 chairmanship election.

As a demonstration of support for the candidacy of Hon Shukura, three past Chairmen of the LCDA namely PRINCE KUNLE OGUNBELA, PRINCE TIJANI OLASUKANMI and HON ADEOLA JOKOMBA all graced the flag off ceremony. The past Chairmen all spoke glowing of HON Shukura  Okeowo, praising her doggedness, steadfastness  and courage to the cause of Ikorodu North LCDA through her political activities.

The climax of the event was the unveiling of her IYA NI WURA Foundation, a platform for the empowerment of women, men and youth within the Ikorodu North LCDA through quarterly empowerment initiatives to be sponsored by the foundation.
