New Modern Adeboruwa Market/ Motor Park, Igbogbo, Lagos.

It was another historic moment in Igbogbo, Lagos, on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, when the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs) Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu commissioned the visionary structured ultra modern Adeboruwa Market and Motor Park in Igbogbo township.

The Market, which was first built in 1973, is now comprises of 200 Shops, 160 K-Clamps, public toilets, standard Car Park, space for fire station and other state-of-art facilities.

While addressing the gathering, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu appreciated the Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Bldr. Sesan Daini, for the great vision in achieving this, encouraging the youths in the community not to loose focus.

"I am delighted to join the good people of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, as we formally unveil the imposing edifice which will go a long way to improve the social economic activities in this area. I want to congratulate the Council Chairman and the entire members of the Executive, Legislative Arm and Management Team for the succesful transformation of the popular Adeboruwa Market Igbogbo.

"I have been informed that this ultramodern shopping complex had been reformed to comprise 200 Shops, and 160 K- Clamps shops with others facilities such as the standard car packs, modern toilets among other things. With the conclusion of this project, it expected that this market will greatly facilitate economic activities and make live easier and better for the people of this axis, especially by creating for them an enabling environment to make income," Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu said.

"The leadership of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA had done commendably well for our women and also for the men which will definitely help to further make life comfortable for the people. It is important to urge the stalkholders to take ownership of this market, let it be we'll managed in line with the international best practice, guard jealousy and don't give room for intruder to destroy the market.

"It took Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA from 1973 to 2021 to give this market the standard it has today, so that standard should be guarded diligently. The Shops are not residential apartments nor living quarters, make sure you lock up your shops before leaving and most importantly, the market men and women must endeavor to keep the market clean, because cleanliness is of excess and you should not tolerate a dirty environment," the First Lady added.

In his eloquent address, the Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Builder Olusesan Daini, earlier thanked the first lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs,) Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, wife of the Deputy Governor, Chief Mrs Remi Hamzat and their entourage to the official Commissioning of Adeboruwa Ultramodern Market and Motor Park in Igbogbo.

According to the Chairman, "two months ago, we had the privilege of having Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu across this road for the Commissioning of our world class Ultramodern Office Complex and now, we have the honor of having the First Lady of Lagos State in our LCDA again to commission yet another project, the Adeboruwa Ultramodern Market and Motor Park; i am most humbled by this rare honor.

"When we came into office on July 25, 2017, we met beautiful foundations and we are prudent enough to evaluate, analyze, modernize and improve them for realizations of our campaign promises and development of our communities. Our people believe in us and gave us unparalleled supports; thus in the space of four years, we made progress as a people, we broke records and set new ones. We moved forward because the people reaffirmed the spirit that has triumphed over underdevelopment, the spirit has lifted our LCDA from the depths of despair to the great heights of hope.

The market established in 1973 during the reign of HRM Oba Festus Molaja Ogunlewe, while the growth and expansion of the market inspired the creation of Adeboruwa Market. Our motivatiom is our desire for the world class and commitment to the THEMES Agenda of Lagos State Government," Daini explained.

He further stated that "in a bid to achieve the modern standard market structure, we went into PPP arrangement with Marlex investment Ltd. We built this market in parity with the few Ultramodern Market in Lagos State. This market which is sub- sectioned to meet the global standard where each section will É“e departmentalized according to the commodities that will É“e sold in them actually comprises 200 shops, 160 k-clamps, public toilet, standard car park, space for fire station and other State - of -the- art facilities. 

"This market is one of the 414 registered markets in Lagos State and we are committed to make all our markets of this standard across the council; we have started process of Elepe and Ibeshe Market reconstruction because our people deservr the best and we are unswerving at giving the very best!

"In the same stance, we will use this project to appreciate some of our heroes that have played significant roles in paying the foundation of the first market in this Town and making this market project a reality from the inception. The blovk in the market will É“e named after them as follow:

ii) Chief Emmanuel Omotayo Dankuwo. ( Community Development Committee Chairman, when market was established)

Daini thereafter offered a profound gratitude to the Adeboruwa Of Igbogbo Kingdom, Oba (Barr.) AbdulSemiu Orimadegun Kasali, and the entire traditional institutions in Igbogbo for giving his Administration every support required to make the project a reality.

In his remarks, the former SSG, Lagos State and Member of Governor's Advisory Council, GAC, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, expressed his joy over the new modern Adeboruwa Market, noting that Chairman Daini has truly made him proud.

"I see today as an important day in my life. This market been mentioned, I can not say without remembering HRM Oba Festus Molaja Ogunlewe, because he led me to start the process of clearing the bush here, and putting a 12 store market in March 1973", Basorun said.

"The visionary structuring of this Ultramodern Market and Motor Park in Igbogbo started in 1973, and I am grateful to God to see this day. Let me use this medium to heartily appreciate the Chairman of Igbogbo Bayeku LCDA, Bldr. Olusesan Daini, for living up to our expectation", Basorun added.
