The Ayangburen of Ikorodu, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Engr.) Kabir Adewale Shotobi, Adegorushen (V), on Monday marked the Sixth Year Anniversary of his Coronation with a pledge to rededicate his throne to the service of God and humanity.
The Monarch made the pledge during the celebration with the traditionalists in Ikorodu, at the Ayangburen Palace. He acknowledged that Almighty Allah had helped him on the throne especially for the huge success achieved in the six years as the Ayangburen of Ikorodu Kingdom.
Oba Shotobi thanked the indigenes of Ikorodu at home and diaspora for the support given so far to move the ancient city progressively, promising to use resources within his capacity to bring progress to the lives of youths, aged, Ikorodu people and the entire Ikorodu Division.
"I want to appreciate the Kingmakers, Chiefs and Lasuwon Royal family for standing firm by me. Today marks the sixth year anniversary when the traditional institution of Ikorodu crowned me as the King of Ikorodu.
"I equally thank the Odofin of Ikorodu Kingdom, Chief Adewunmi Ogunsanya, SAN, for putting in lots of efforts and resources to assist the people of Ikorodu Division by establishing security trust fund and other notable sons and daughters of Ikorodu Division.
"Also, I want to thank the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, for his government of inclusion and approving of some of our requests. Amongst which are the VIP Challet, upgrading of Lagos State Polytechnic to Lagos State Technical University, upgrading of General Hospital Ikorodu to Teaching Hospital, Igbogbo Stadium's approval to become a Mini Sports Stadium, another befitting Stadium at Lagos State Polytechnic, the Itamaga- Ijede road, construction of the fourth mainland bridge, the speedy completion of Imota international market, the reconstruction of Ikorodu roundabout and the 'Ita-Efulase' of Ikorodu, among the rest," the Monarch stated.
Oba Shotobi, while speaking with MegaXpression Media, further urged the people of Ikorodu Division to collaborate and adhere strictly with the government's policies to realise the good things in stock for Ikorodu Division.
Earlier, the Olotu Omoba Lasunwon, Ikorodu, Prince Wasiu Adekunle Adenuga, in his remarks said, the six year coronation of Oba Shotobi as helped Ikorodu Kingdom progressively, appealing to the people not to relent but continue to give Monarch the total support.
Also Otunba Efuwa of Ikorodu, Otunba Odugbesan Ajenishekuti, described the sixth year on throne of Oba Shotobi, as being fantastic, because of his vision and determination for Ikorodu. While Chief Joseph Olatunji Aluko, the Baale of Owutu said the last six years of Oba Shotobi is a turning point in the history of Ikorodu Kingdom.
Prince Adegboyega Odofin, the Secretary of Lasunwon Ruling House, equally said, Ikorodu has been moving forward since the past six years of Oba Shotobi on throne, saying most of the government projects have been completed and still be ongoing. "The palace extension was done within his three years ascension on throne, he had also contributed to the development of the rice project at Imota and among others," Prince Adegboyega stated.
The celebration witnessed different cultural display by the Osugbos, Elelukus, Awoopas, Igunnuko, Asa, Abilefo, Onimagbo, Elegun, Aborijin, Ologun, Babalawo, Turupu, Oloosa, among others.
