IGBOGBO DAY 2021: WORKING COMMITTEE SETS TO REINVENT DIGNITY ON IGBOGBO KINGDOM, CHARGES ALL TO RESPECT, HONOR ADEBORUWA'S THRONE. | Shakiru Seidu. ...We need to own a voice that'll speak our cultural integration, identity in Igbogbo, Prof. Sheriff Adekoya reveals.

The Y2021 Working Committee of Igbogbo Day Celebration, under the able Chairmanship of Mr Nasiru Titilope Balogun, has enjoined all Sons and Daughters of Igbogbo Kingdom to come together for a common mindset in positively projecting the good image of Igbogbo, noting that it is the best time now to stem the bleeding of Igbogbo status and revivify the throne of Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom.

This and more were thoroughly discussed at a special lecture organized by the Working Committee, on Saturday, August 21, at Oba Johnson Olatunji Fatola Pavilion, Igbogbo, Lagos, MegaXpression Media was there.

In his superlative lecture, the C.E.O. of a Brand and Strategic Thinking Organisation, Professor Sheriff Adekoya, charges the old and young ones in Igbogbo to respect the community, and also narrated the importance of respecting the throne of Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom.

"Taking example of HRM Oba AbdulSemiu Orimadegun Kasali, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, he is a knowledgeable King, who understands what it takes to become a leader, and the yearning of the people of Igbogbo beyond the surface. A future ready king, with utmost interest of his people at heart. He's not just another Yoruba King, but one of the knowledgeable royal flair. So, we need to sell these and more to the world," Prof. Adekoya said.

He further stated, "The world has truly gone global, becoming a Village, cultural heritages are losing clout by the day and taking traditional monarchy along with it. Based on this, Igbogbo Kingdom needs to create and own a voice that will speak cultural integration, identity, awakening, and regard. This brand will incite, enduring relevance of Igbogbo, the Royal Stool and members of the monarchy," he advised.

Adekoya further enjoined the people of Igbogbo to be more committed, proactive and determined toward making their dream a reality, saying that there is no gain folding hands when everyone is participating.

In his remarks, the Chairman, Igbogbo Day Planning Committee, Mr Nosiru Titilope Balogun, thanked HRM Oba AbdulSemiu Kasali, for his presence and the opportunity given for them to serve Igbogbo, insisting that the lecture given by Professor Sheriff Adekoya will definitely help in the development of Igbogbo Kingdom.

"In adhering to the Covid'19 protocol, this year's Igbogbo Day programme for the students will be on zoom from there various schools without having everybody coming around. So, if you have registered address or password, you can view it anytime you feel like, so it's going to have an outreach more than the previous ones," Balogun revealed.

He assured that this year's Igbogbo Day is going to add values to the residents of Igbogbo Kingdom. "If you look at the presentation very well, we talked about the deforestation, depletion of the ozone layers, these are things that even our young ones don't really know about, we will try to let them know the importance of the society.

"In the environment, deforestation will need to be discouraged, so definitely, it's going to add value and it's not going to be the usual Igbogbo Day celebration we use to have," Balogun added.
