BOLOWOTAN GOLD CUP: F.A VICTORY LIFTS TROPHY, DEFEATS N-TAB ON PENALTY KICK AFTER 2-2 DRAW. ...The competition is to mentally improve Youths, unite people of Ikorodu Division, Toyin Gafaar Bolowotan reveals.
History was again unfolded in Ikorodu, during the final Match of 2021 Bolowotan Gold Cup Competition, powered by the Director General of Lagos State Sports Commission, Prince Toyin Gafaar Bolowotan, held at the Strong Tower playing ground, Ikorodu, on Sunday, August 15, 2021.
It was said to MegaXpression Media, that the competition is aimed at uniting the people of Ikorodu Division, so as to mentally improve the youths and the society. It was equally explained to bring friends, families and youths together, to ensure peaceful coexistence and preparing the youths for better lifestyle in Lagos State and Ikorodu Division in particular.
The Match which was officiated by of one of the highly respected Referees in Nigeria, Mr Toheeb Agbabiaka, kicked off at exactly 4:05pm between N-Tab FC and F.A. Vision FC, under a peaceful atmosphere.
It was a great encounter between the two teams in which the teams refused to score until 12minutes when Ismail Salami of N-Tab FC put the ball at the back of the net to record the first goal of the Match. Efforts made by the F.A Victory FC to level the score line was crowned at the 22nd minutes when Femi Walker put the ball at the back of the net.
In the 28th minutes, Subainu Hameed of F.A Victory FC put his team ahead when he scored a superlative goal to make the score line 2-1. While Salami Arisekola of N-Tab FC thereafter leveled the score line in the 32nd minutes, as the first half ended in 2-2 draw.
The second half was equally competitive as the N-TAB FC refused to bow to F.A Victory FC. Both teams wasted some scoring chances, as the Match finally ended in 2-2 draw. The match was later decided with penalty shootout, while F.A Victory FC put 4 goals at the back of the net and N-TAB FC scored 3 goals out of 5.
Medals and Trophy were later presented one after the other. The winner of the competition, F.A. Victory FC, went home with N300,000, while the second position, N-TAB FC, got themselves N200,000. The 3rd position, also went home with N100,000 while the 4th position got N50,000. The most valuable player, and highest goals scorer were both rewarded.
While speaking with MegaXpression Media, the sponsor, Prince Toyin Gafaar Bolowotan thanked all, most expecially Ikorodu Division Football Association, saying the renewal strides and people-oriented initiatives, necessitated the competition.
Among the notable personalities at the final match were Comrade Rotimi Erogbogbo, Chairman IKODASS, Barr. Seyi Akinwunmi, Chairman LSFA and Vice Chairman NFF, Alhaji Lukman Shonibare, Chairman IDFA, Dr. Abiodun Fatai-Abatan, Board Member, Lagos State Sports Commission, Mr Abiodun Adeoye and Mr Onasanya Fajebe Babatunde, Members of IDFA.
Also Miss Yemisi Cole, Alhaji Tade Azeez of LSFA, Alhaji Yusuf Atebo, representative of Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, MHR, Prince Jimoh Ogunmuyiwa, Mr Jelili Ogunmuyiwa, Divisions FA Chairmen, among others were equally in attendance.
