The Old Grammarians Society (OGS), the Alumni Association of the C.M.S Grammar School, Lagos, said the group has elected the new members into its executive committee at its Annual General Meeting, which held recently.
In a statement made available to MegaXpression Media at the weekend, signed by the Global President, Mr. Olu Vincent and the new Publicity Director, Otunba ‘Dare Odufowokan. The Alumni Association pledged the commitment of the new leadership to the realisation of the dreams of founders of the first secondary school in Nigeria and the society.
The statement revealed that the group would be committed to the deployment of the Alumni Association as a tool for the restoration of the glorious days of OGS, while mentoring young Grammarians and networking among members.
The statement further stated that Vincent has appealed to other members to join hands with him and the executive committee in the delivery of his mandate. Dr. Bunmi Enigbokan and Dipo Arigbede are the new Vice Presidents, while Prince Seni Ogungbadero is the General Secretary.
Vincent, a former Director, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), also reiterated his administration’s readiness to set up a foundation that will further strengthening the Association and also address the challenges of unemployment among Old Boys who are currently unemployed.
The President equally noted that this would be achieved by approaching those who have viable businesses to help its graduates, adding that those who have skills are also encouraged. The move he said, will help to bridge the gap between the older and younger generations.
“We will build on the achievements of the past two years while entrenching the processes that we have in place and make them parts of our constitution so that nobody comes in and change it all. We have promised to take OGS higher and further support our Alma Mata to retain its place as the first and the best among secondary schools in Nigerian,” the statement stated.
