NAPPS UNVEILS ONLINE RADIO PLATFORM IN IKORODU, SAYS IT'S AIMED AT GETTING STUDENTS LEARN BEYOND CLASSROOM. | Shakiru Seidu. ...COVID-19 has left us with option of relying on Technology as an alternative means of imparting knowledge, NAPPS President, Alh. Olawale Amusa Homat reveals.

National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, NAPPS, in Lagos State has unveiled the Online Radio Station, named 'NAPPS Lagos School Radio', revealing that the COVID-19 pandemic has left the Association with option of relying on Technology as an alternative means of imparting knowledge to million of learners across Lagos State, MegaXpression Media reports.

Alhaji M.T. Olawale Amusa, the Owner of HOMAT Group of Schools and President of National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, NAPPS, said in his eloquent address at Megalite Hall Igbogbo, that the Online Radio Project is as a result of several months of brainstorming and hardwork among the members, noting that the Station can be accessed through the internet with low data usage.

"NAPPS School Radio is meant to become a one-stop online radio platform for daily subjects teaching and will feature an array of quality educative programme contents, all geared towards giving our students, teacher and parents a unique radio experience. We have resolved in our quest to provide qualitative education to students of private schools in Lagos State," Amusa explained.

He further enjoined other private school owners who are yet to join NAPPS in Lagos State that the doors are still open for them, noting that there's a lot of benefit after registered with NAPPS. "The NAPPS Estate is equally coming, where land would be sold to members at a very moderate cost," the NAPPS President revealed.

"Our doors are widely opened for partnership or Sponsors in all form of collaborations that would make this vision durable and sustainable. We also call on the Lagos State Government, Parents, Guardians, and Publishers to support this great vision, because the task of educating our children is a collective responsibility,' Amusa concluded.

Mrs Abiola Johnson, on behalf of the Commissioner for Education, Lagos State, applauded the initiative of NAPPS on the Radio Station, saying it will enhance the improvement of learning and teaching in Ikorodu Division, Lagos State and Nigeria at large.

"This Radio platform is open to business not just only for the private schools but for the Government public schools as well. I know with this project, we are taking Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole to a greater height," the Commissioner said.
 
Also, Managing Director of NAPPS, Lagos State, Omo'ba Peju Akinyemi, said School Radio is a brainchild of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, Lagos State Chapter, dedicated to the promotion of learning, reading and entertainment for school age children, Teachers and Parents..

"The School Radio is also poised to expose students to the world of public speaking and enhancing their confidence, promote quality education, academic impartation and technology-based learning through the adoption of 21st century radio technology and public speaking prowess. 

"NAPPS School Radio is also meant to expose students who are interested in studying Journalism, Public Relations and mass communication to the rudiments of the profession, ahead of their post-secondary school education.

"Our platform which is reaching out to millions of school age is the ideal platform for children branda, school products and other educational related products and services to showcase and advertise your product to the world. We offer an exclusive direct to target  media platform to our niche market and our platform remain the only player in this market. In the same vein, the General Secretary of NAPPS Lagos State, Alaka Yusuf Lukman, said this is the first of it kind in Nigeria and this is part of the programme the administration have for education. "We want the Nigeria students in private schools to have that feeling that not necessarily you are in the class before you can learn.

"Looking at the perception about proprietors of schools, money collecting for school fees have been spending into numerous ways, providing furnitures, employing the best teachers, training up the teachers, making sure that the school structure is in a good shape and ensuring that the classrooms are adequate for learning", Alaka said.

The past Chairperson of NAPPS, Alimosho Chapter, Princess Helen Adesina, in her remarks said the NAPPS is known for excellence. "We are the first Radio in Lagos State and Nigeria for education, as our anthem says 'we are nurturing for National development'. We want to ensure that through this medium, every Nigerian child that have opportunity to listen to the radio at any point in time is not missing out in school," she said.

Also, another NAPPS member, Alhaji Semiu Shodekun, while speaking with MegaXpression Media, said he's delighted to be part of the programme and assured to remain supportive to the elevation of the Radio Studio. "During the Covid-19 pandemic, the Association came up with many programmes, and we decided to go for Online Radio, that will enhance the teaching and learning.

"Henceforth, the Advisory committee that will be working with this station is fully ready so heed to them so that we can have a full programme running from chapter to chapter throughout the year of the programme, Shodekun stated.
