The House of Reps. Member and Chairman House Committee on Defence, Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, has revealed that it's imperative for him to put smiles on the faces of his constituents, noting that there is need to rekindle hope in the people and encouraged them to be proactive in the fight against poverty.
JB, as he's fondly called, stated this on Saturday, during the 5th Anniversary of iCARE Foodbank, in commemoration of World Food Day, in which 134,240 individuals have benefitted from the 'Apo Aanu' distributions. "Our aim is to focus on how to improve the lives by alleviating hardship from the lives of our people," Benson said.

According to him: "So far so good, we have tried our best to touch the lives of the vulnerables in our modest effort. Looking at how much food products have gone up today, we just try to augment and look for the vulnerable in the society to assist them.
"Aside from gifting food items, we have in terms of development built hospitals, impactful roads, Schools in about 26 locations across Ikorodu federal Constituency, and also helped people into the military service and civil service as well.
"Presently, we are building an hospital in Imota which happens to be the biggest in the Lagos East with 80 beds, and it will likely be ready within four to five months, Benson explained while responding to questions from MegaXpression Media.
Also, member of the Governing Advisory's Council (GAC) and former SSG, Lagos State, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, in his fluent remarks commended the quality representation of Rep. Babajimi Benson, noting that the initiative of iCARE Foodbank is an excellent one with very impactive agenda.
The APC Apex leader, therefore urged the beneficiaries to continue to pray for Hon. Benson for having a large heart to continue this food gifting in Ikorodu federal Constituency.
Also, Deputy Rector, Academics, Lagos State Polytechnic, Olushola Olumide Metilelu, in his words described iCARE Foodbank 5th Anniversary as a wonderful event and historic initiative.
"This initiative will absolutely complement government's effort in terms of people's welfare. And with all sense of sincerity, this is highly commendable for an individual or politician to run this for five years while thousands of people benefiting from such," Metilelu said.
"To sustain a program of this nature, it takes a lot of commitment because it's requires funding, and to a very large extent, Hon. Babajimi Benson has actually cared for the people. Hence, if he's interested in other position or same position in future, believe me, I will endorse him," Matilelu assured.
He later enjoined others who holds public positions to ensure that they also demonstrate love to people because things are not easy at this period.
Mainwhile, the Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Omo'ba Builder Olusesan Mayokun Daini, applauded Hon. Benson in his eloquent remarks, saying if you do good, good things will surely come your way. "Hon. Babajimi Benson is treading on a path that is worthy of emulation, and I pray that the Grace of God will continue abiding by him and his household," the Chairman stated.
In his own remarks, Mr Rotimi Ayoku, the CDC Chairman, Ijede LCDA, said iCARE Foundation is an Arm of social contract between Hon. Babajimi Benson and his constituents. "Since 2015, we are happy in Ikorodu Division, having a representative that has gone out of his primary duties of law making to impact on the less privileges and more so, in the areas of health care, education and construction of roads," Ayoku said.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Adeola Ogunwale from Agbede in Ikorodu North LCDA, thanked Hon. Benson, Mayor Muyideen Sanwoola and other members of iCARE Family for this uncommon initiative, saying it has one way or the other reduce the rate of hunger in the society.
