OPEN LETTER TO GOVERNOR BABAJIDE SANWO-OLU ON TERRIBLE STATE OF IGBOGBO- BAIYEKU ROAD AND ITS ECONOMIC HARDSHIP ON IGBOGBO COMMUNITY. Written by Shakiru Seidu.

Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Executive Governor of Lagos State.

Dear Governor Sanwo-Olu,

Greetings Sir,

I picked this medium of open letter to reach out to you because of the danger and economic hardship posed by Obafemi Awolowo/ Baiyeku Road to the great people of Igbogbo Kingdom. It’s no longer new on your table of how bad this Road had being for years without any serious effort on part of the government to tackle it.

Your Excellency sir, I had tears running down my eyes as I had to pass through such a terrible Road every day and night to go for my daily business. Sincerely it's a hell; the road is so bad that erosion has divided it into two on five critical locations before getting to Baiyeku township and has become a point of 'No Go Area'.

More importantly is the fact that this road leads to the multi billion naira State and Federal Housing Investments, the State Ferry Terminal at Baiyeku, the much awaited Fourth Mainland Bridge and several other places of great economic importance to the State.

Sir, I humbly plead that you use your honorable position given you by God to ensure that a new Road be constructed, that will be used in place of this one as it has gone beyond amendment as shown by the images.

Mr Governor sir, your last visit to Igbogbo, precisely Wednesday, March 24, 2021, you said: "I have seen the state of Obafemi Awolowo/ Baiyeku road, I will arrange on how to award the road before the year runs out. We have also called on HITECH Contractor to speed up Igbogbo/ Bola Ahmed Tinubu/ Igbe road, so that we can give our citizen a desire relieve that is required."

'Omo Sanwo-Olu', the people of Igbogbo are yet to feel your words! All roads in Igbogbo are so bad! Igbogbo/Oreta and Igbogbo/Offin roads are in their sorry state, while the HITECH Contractor on Igbogbo/ Bola Ahmed Tinubu/ Igbe Road had adopted a snail method of road construction since 2017.

Mainwhile, aside from the hardship infringed by these bad roads on the people of Igbogbo community, the scenario had equally put to questioning, the competence of the Community Leaders in the LCDA. HRM Oba AbdulSemiu Orimadegun Kasali, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, Chairman, Igbogbo/ Baiyeku LCDA, Builder Olusesan Mayokun Daini, the Governor's Advisory Council Member, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, former Minister of Works, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe amongst other community leaders in Igbogbo/ Baiyeku LCDA, can hardly sleep now because of the series of complaints and agitations by the people.

However, your prompt intervention sir, will in no time absolutely restore the people's hope on your government and these respected individuals in Igbogbo/ Baiyeku LCDA. We need immediate action on your part sir, and If anything is to be done, it has to be done NOW and FAST!

As I await your prompt response sir, kindly accept the assurances of my highest regards.
