IDYI EMPOWERS 33 TRAINED YOUTHS WITH SEWING MACHINES, MAKE-UP KITS, HAIRDRESSING GADGETS IN IKORODU. | Shakiru Seidu. ...Commends Commissioner for Agriculture, Ms Abisola Olusanya for sponsorship. ...Basorun, Fatai-Abatan, Others applaud gesture.

Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, Dr. Abiodun Fatai-Abatan, Mr Samson Bisiriyu and the beneficiaries of the IDYI empowerment Scheme.

Ikorodu Division Youth Initiative, IDYI, has empowered 33 trained Youths, selected across Ikorodu Division. The 33 beneficiaries were presented with different vocational equipments on Saturday, ranging from 12 sewing machine, 10 make-up Kits and 11 Hairdressing gadgets, to uplift their standard of life. The presentation was made at the Oba AbdulSemiu Orimadegun Kasali Vocational Center, Igbogbo, Lagos, MegaXpression Media was there.

Speaking at the event, a Governing Advisory Council, GAC, and former SSG Lagos State, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, impressed with the organizers over the empowerment initiative, expressing happiness and joy that it's happening during his life time.

"With this initiative, the numbers of employee's rate have increases by thirty three and I think our young ones will be encouraged, and whatever that makes them to loose focus will now change because they'll believe some people are somewhere, thinking about them," Basorun said.

He further implored the government to empower students who are graduating, particularly the National Directorates of Employment, NDE, programme. "The NDE is far away but the Lagos State government which is aware of this vocational should also do similar project on regular basis," he added.

Basorun also urged the 33 beneficiaries to use whatever equipments given to them very well and equally have the spirt of giving whenever they are able. "To the graduands, when you are getting better, do not hesitate to give back to the society as Ms Abisola Olusanya has done, Asiwaju implored.

The BOT Chairman, Ikorodu Division Youths Initiative, Dr. Abiodun Fatai-Abatan said in his eloquent remarks that this empowerment is not the first time neither would be the last time that IDYI would embark on empowering and getting employment for the Youths of Ikorodu Division, applauding the supports receiving at all time from the Commissioner for Agriculture, Lagos State, Ms Abisola Olusanya.

"The courtesy of supports that are being giving to us by Ms Abisola Olusanya, showed that Ikorodu is moving ahead in terms of youth involvement in the developmental process. We are not only empowering the Youths, but also using that as a basis of ensuring that youth add better value to our society.

"We have a feedback mechanism that will ensure that recipients used the equipments judiciously, so that they can be able to get their life survival as well as been a better citizen in the community," Fatai-Abatan stated.

He urged the Youths to rewrite the history of Ikorodu in terms of image laundry, saying lots of negatives are being associated with Ikorodu's name and we need vibrant youths that can be able to squarehead the process and ensure that we create a positive image for Ikorodu.

Earlier, the former Commissioner for Agriculture, Lagos State and the Lagos East Senatorial APC Vice Chairman, Asipa Kaoli Olatunji Olusanya, said he's satisfied with the composition of the youths in IDYI and the comportment of the organizers and participants. 

Kaoli, who was ably represented by Barr. Hadey Ayeni, appealed to the beneficiaries to make best use of the equipments, saying to whom much is given, much is expected, MegaXpression Media reports.

Also in attendance were the Director General, Prince Adedoyin Jokotex Group, Mr Amusa Adeshina, Hon. Azeez Olosugbo, Principal of Vocational Centre, Mrs Onabanjo Adeola Risikat, Vice Chairman, Mrs Adebowale, Mrs Bisi Bello Mustapha, Mr Seun Elesho, amongst others.

Mr Shakiru Sanni of Amoju branch, Lantan Onanusi Family in Igbogbo, was made the Olumale Eluku of Igbogbo few years back, and accused of insubordination, abused of tittle and total disrespect to the King, traditional institution of the land and Lantan Onanusi Family.
