Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Barr.) AbdulSemiu Orimadegun Kasali, on Friday, commended the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, on his Administration’s commitment to deepening sports development in Ikorodu Division by investing in the construction of 1,800 Seaters Igbogbo Sports Stadium and other sporting facilities in the State.

The Monarch made the submission while speaking with MegaXpression Media, during the final match of the Oba Adeboruwa Football Competition, organized by the Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, in commemoration of this year's World Teachers' Day.

Oba Kasali, applauding the NUT Ikorodu Branch and its members, expressed joy on the commencement of the Stadium by the Governor, which was said to be ready by December 2021, noting that Igbogbo is ever prepared to host any sporting activities.

"Let me also thank the Mr Governor for the choice of the Tutor General giving to us in Education District II, Mrs Anike Adekanye. She has been a wonderful mother to all our children. My special appreciation to the Teachers who have come together in the sporting activity to commemorate their annual teachers day with this competition.

"My advice to students is to face their studies and shun all act of violence and all forms of social vices. While the Teachers should not relent by continuing to put in more efforts for the betterment of our society," Oba Kasali stated.

In his eloquent remarks, the Chairman Nigeria Union of Teachers, Ikorodu Branch, Comrade Fakolade Oluwafemi Oluwaseun, thanked the King for the love and care bestowed upon the Union at all time, applauding Other members on the World Teachers' Day Committee, the Chairman of 2021 World Teachers Day and 1st Vice Chairman NUT Ikorodu, Comrade Adefunke Esan, Comrade Lateef Babatunde Oduguwa, distinguished Principals, Chiefs and every good people that had made the competition a reality.

The Tutor General, Education District II, Mrs Anike Adekanye, in her remarks appreciated Igbogbo Monarch for his passion for Education, saluting the vibrancy of Comrade Lateef Oduguwa, Comrade Fakolade Oluwafemi, Comrade Adefunke Esan, and other committed members of NUT Ikorodu Branch.

The Oba Adeboruwa final match later decided by penalties, after the two team refused to surrender for each other by playing 1-1 draw after the whole 90min. Team 'B' defeated Team 'A' 4:3 on penalty to lift the Trophy.
