The Bursars' Association of Polytechnics and Colleges of Technology (BURSCON) in Nigeria, was on Thursday visited His Royal Majesty, Oba (Barr.) AbdulSemiu Orimadegun Kasali, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, as part of its tradition, noting that the Association is out to evolve means of bringing about positive changes in the tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

Speaking in Adeboruwa's Palace, the President of BURSCON, Mr Amos Fasinu, expressed commitment and determination of the Body to continue playing its noble role in ensuring prudent financial management in tertiary educational institutions to facilitate scientific and technological development of Nigeria, MegaXpression Media reports.

"This Association was formed several years ago, and it is our custom to move round the institutions in Nigeria and get familiarize with the communities. Lagos State Polytechnic is hosting our 43rd regular meeting and it is necessary we visit highly refered people within the community we're having meeting," Fasinu said.

The former Head of Service, Lagos State and Member Lagos State Polytechnic Governing Council, Aremo Adesegun Ogunlewe, while holding the mic, applauded the Bursars' Association of Polytechnics and Colleges of Technology in Nigeria, for paying homage to Adeboruwa's Palace, saying it's a honor having the Association's meeting at Lagos State Polytechnic and finding it worthy that Igbogbo Monarch is one of those traditional Rulers in the State that must be visited in the cause of the deliberation.

"Just as the the President said, Bursars exchanges note to ensure that our educational system in Nigeria does not collapse. They are the financial controllers of the Polytechnics and a major pillar in which the success of educational institution rest," Ogunlewe said.

He further stated that the coming together of Bursars from various States in Nigeria to stand as a body is something that has rekindled the people's hope, irrespective of challenges we are facing in Nigeria.

"In the cost of my career for eleven years as a member of National Council and Establishment, it is obvious to me that whatever problem we are facing in Nigeria today is politics and nothing but politics. So, your coming together as a body only re-enforced that Nigeria can always be one, because we have the enabling environment for us to be one," Ogunlewe added.

Fluently speaking, the host and Bursar, Lagos State Polytechnic, Mr Maumo Jerry Jinadu, thanked Igbogbo Monarch for receiving Members of BURSCON, likewise Prince Adesegun Ogunlewe, for his leadership role in Lagos State Polytechnic, while equally assured his fellow members of smooth and successful 43rd meeting in Lagos State Polytechnic.

In his Royal remarks, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Barr.) AbdulSemiu Orimadegun Kasali, appreciated each and every member of BURSCON, for honouring Igbogbo Kingdom with their visit and at the same time choosing Lagos State as the host State, while applauding their leadership quality in the administration of various institution that they came from.

"Despite the challenges Nigeria is facing presently, we must ensure education sector is giving proper attention. However, I want to appeal to you all to do the needful, because prudence in management is very key, so, let us be careful about ensuring that the sustainability will be beneficial to our students and Staff of our institutions," Oba Kasali stated.

The visit was later followed by a photo session immediately after the vote of thanks by the Secretary of Igbogbo Development Association, IDEA, Engr. Lateef Oduntan, who equally thanked the board members for the visit.
