IBESHE KINGDOM PLANS MAIDEN CULTURAL FESTIVAL TO CELEBRATE ITS RICH CULTURAL HERITAGE. ...Sets to unveil 5-Year Developmental Plan; to honor Rep. Babajimi Benson as Grand Commander of IKIDASS.


The Ibeshe Kingdom Development Association, IKIDASS, has unveiled plans for the maiden edition of Ibeshe Day Festival. An annual cultural festival aimed at celebrating the history, values, and global identity of its people.

The Chairman of IKIDASS, Asiwaju Kaoli Olatunji Olusanya, former Commissioner for Agric, Lagos State, disclosed this to MegaXpression Media and other Newsmen, during a World Press Conference at Ibeshe Town Hall, on Monday, October 6, 2025.

Olusanya noted that the initiative, backed by His Royal Majesty, Oba Richard Abayomi Ogunsanya, Bisoro 1, the Olubeshe of Ibeshe Kingdom, would institutionalise Ibeshe culture and heritage. “This is not just a festival, but an opportunity for the Ibeshe people to bring sons, daughters and its residents together and celebrate the Kingdom.” Asiwaju opined.

Olusanya further explained that the festival would serve as a model for cultural preservation, promote unity, grow the creative economy, and boost tourism and socio-economic development of Ibeshe, Ikorodu Division and beyond. Noting that Boat Regatta (Isiko), 'Iwure Odun' prayers at Olubeshe Palace, 'Woro' procession, and other various cultural displays will form the core celebrations.

On Saturday, 13th December, the program will feature competitions, such as Card 52, Draft, Ludo, and other games at Aafin Olubeshe. The day will also accomodate participants from Community Development Associations (CDAs), youth groups, market women, artisans, ethnic groups, and horse rides and the ongoing Miss Ibeshe Pageant.

The festival will continue on Wednesday, 17th December, while the Grand Finale will take place on Saturday, 20th December, 2025, at the Ibeshe Ferry Terminal. The Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu is expected to attend the grand finale as the Special Guest of Honour. While the closing day will feature the IKIDASS Awards Ceremony, recognizing the Outstanding political Office Holders and Contributors to the growth and development of Ibeshe kingdom.

At the event, the erudite Lawmaker and Chairman House Committee on Defence at the National Assembly, Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson MHR, will be honored as 'Grand Commander' of the Ibeshe Kingdom Development Association, amongst other exemplary youth that have also chosen as role models within the community.

Meanwhile, the official unveiling of 'IBESHE ARISE', a comprehensive Five-Year Development Plan, aimed at driving the growth and modernization of Ibesheland, including the construction of a modern Aafin Olubeshe. The Fuji music Star, Alhaji Taye Currency will also be featured at the grand finale to entertain the invited guests.

In his Royal remarks, HRM Oba Richard Abayomi Ogunsanya, the Olubeshe of Ibeshe Kingdom, expressed confidence and optimism, while urging religious groups, CDAs, Market leaders, Artisans, Youth and all residents of Ibeshe Kingdom to contribute actively to the success of the festival.

In the same vein, the Executive Chairman of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Omo'ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun HOA, who was ably represented by his Vice, Barr. Ade Ayeni, congratulated the Kabiyesi, Oba Ogunsanya, Asiwaju Kaoli Olusanya and the entire people of Ibeshe Kingdom, while assuring them that his administration will be a partner in progress of Ibeshe development.
