ABIRU CLINCHES LEGISLATIVE EXCELLENCE AWARD AT 2026 NAIRAMETRICS CAPITAL MARKET AWARDS.


The Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, has been honoured with the Legislative Excellence Award for Financial Sector Advancement at the 2026 Nairametrics Capital Market Awards held in Lagos.

The award recognises Senator Abiru’s outstanding contributions to the development of Nigeria’s financial and capital market ecosystem through impactful legislative engagement and policy advocacy.

Speaking after receiving the award, Senator Abiru expressed appreciation to the organisers for the honour, describing it as a testament to the collective commitment of stakeholders dedicated to strengthening the nation’s financial sector. He noted that the recognition underscores the importance of sustained collaboration among policymakers, regulators, market operators, and investors in building a robust and globally competitive economy.

Drawing from his extensive experience in the banking and financial services industry prior to his transition into public service, Senator Abiru reaffirmed his commitment to championing legislative initiatives and reforms that deepen the capital market, boost investor confidence, and drive sustainable economic growth.

The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions also commended stakeholders across the financial services sector for their invaluable contributions to the growth and resilience of Nigeria’s capital market. According to him, a vibrant and well-regulated capital market remains a critical pillar for economic transformation, investment attraction, job creation, and long-term national prosperity.
