TINUBU APPROVES ₦15.7BN PACIFIC - IGBE LAARA ROAD AS JIMI BENSON'S ADVOCACY YIELDS ANOTHER MAJOR WIN FOR IKORODU

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved the construction of the Pacific–Igbe Laara Road at a cost of ₦15.7 billion, a landmark infrastructure project expected to accelerate economic growth and improve connectivity across Ijede and Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Areas of Ikorodu Federal Constituency.

The approval, granted under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, underscores the Federal Government's commitment to expanding critical infrastructure through the Renewed Hope Agenda, with a focus on enhancing transportation networks and stimulating socioeconomic development across the country.

For residents of the benefiting communities, the project represents a long-awaited intervention that will provide easier access to over 150 Community Development Associations (CDAs), improve mobility, reduce travel time, facilitate commercial activities, and create new opportunities for investment within the rapidly developing riverine axis of Ikorodu Division.

The development has generated widespread excitement among residents, community leaders, and stakeholders, many of whom described the approval as a significant milestone in the quest for sustainable development in the constituency.

Reacting to the announcement, Emeritus Chairman of the Community Development Committee (CDC), Ijede LCDA, Mr. Rotimi Ayoku-Owolawi, expressed profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the project.

He described the road as a transformational initiative capable of opening up numerous communities and strengthening economic links between Ijede, Igbogbo/Baiyeku, and other parts of Ikorodu Division.

Mr. Ayoku-Owolawi also acknowledged the sustained efforts of the Member representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Benson, noting that his consistent engagement with relevant federal authorities has continued to attract impactful projects to the constituency.

Observers have also attributed the approval to the effective collaboration between the Federal Government and the federal lawmaker, whose advocacy over the years has attracted several developmental projects in the areas of road infrastructure, healthcare, education, ICT, rural electrification, market development, and other community-based initiatives.

Beyond easing transportation, the Pacific–Igbe Laara Road is expected to reduce the cost of doing business, enhance access to neighbouring communities, encourage private sector investment, improve property values, and raise the overall standard of living for thousands of residents.

As commendations continue to pour in from across Ikorodu Federal Constituency, many residents have described the project as another demonstration of the positive impact of responsive governance, effective representation, and strategic investment in infrastructure.

With the approval now secured, expectations are high that the commencement and timely completion of the road will further unlock the economic potential of the area and contribute significantly to the continued development of Ikorodu Division.
