As part of efforts to deepen democratic participation and ensure that eligible citizens are not disenfranchised ahead of the 2027 General Elections, the Lagos State Baales Forum is set to call on residents across Lagos State, particularly those within Ikorodu Division, to participate in a sensitization campaign on the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR).
The sensitization programme is scheduled to hold on Friday, June 26, 2026, at the Ikorodu Town Hall, Ikorodu, Lagos State, beginning at 10:00 a.m. prompt.
According to the Coordinator, Ikorodu Division Baales, Chief Akeju Olugbenga Idowu, Baale Alakan, said the campaign is designed to educate residents on the importance of voter registration and the need for every eligible citizen to obtain a valid voter card ahead of future elections.
He emphasized that voter registration remains the first step in the democratic process, urging youths, women, community leaders, and all qualified residents to take advantage of the ongoing registration exercise conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Chief Idowu noted that the sensitization campaign will provide participants with relevant information on registration procedures, requirements, and the benefits of active civic engagement. He stressed that every vote matters and that citizens must position themselves to contribute meaningfully to the governance and development of their communities through the ballot.
The Lagos State Baales Forum therefore encourages all residents to attend the programme and become ambassadors of voter education within their respective communities.
"Let us join hands in strengthening our democracy by ensuring that every eligible citizen is registered and prepared to exercise the right to vote in the 2027 General Elections and beyond," he stated.
